Seeing Tom Petty on this list actually makes me a very happy gamer. Also in for A Perfect Circle, Santana, Rolling Stones, Rush, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Nirvana (Smells Like Teen Spirit AND Lithium!!!), and Queen/Bowie's "Under Pressure". I see some repeats from Rock Band, but with Guitar Hero's Expert+ drum difficulty, it actually makes buying repeats somewhat viable.

I've already heard endless arguments about which series is better and which will be better between GH5 and RB: Beatles. Do yourselves a favor and just buy both, because they both look like winners.

I've been waiting for The White Stripes to make Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band since the franchises started, but way to pick my least favorite of their singles.

BUT lots of love for Johnny Cash, Gorillaz, Spacehog, My Morning Jacket, more Dylan and old school Weezer. I didn't really like World Tour, but I'll pick this up.

I wish "Cowboy Song" was the Thin Lizzy tune instead of "Jailbreak."

I'm interested to see how they'll handle that as well, especially considering the song is in the neighborhood of fourteen minutes.

Wow...no Hagar-era tracks on the VH setlist. I was really hoping for Poundcake.

Of course I'll still buy it.

There's always Frets on Fire for which there are about a dozen The White Stripes songs. (And the "Works in Progress" list indicates that someone is working on White Blood Cells and Elephant in their entirety.)

Major bonus: Owners of Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero Smash Hits just got an incentive to add this to their library.

IGN: Guitar Hero 5 Preview

And now for a bigger announcement. Guitar Hero 5 will be the first in the franchise to feature forward compatibility of songs from past games. On PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, some of the disc-based songs from Guitar Hero World Tour and Smash Hits will be importable, for a fee, to work with Guitar Hero 5 and the upcoming Band Hero. What's more, currently 152 out of 158 Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable tracks will automatically work with Guitar Hero 5. All of the songs you import will be upgraded to work with the new Guitar Hero 5 features, such as band moments and vocal star power.

Tim Riley, head of music licensing at Activision, had this to say about importing songs

"It's something we've wanted to do for a while now. They are separate licenses, so we need to go back and re-license previous content. So, songs from World Tour, songs from the download space, songs from Smash Hits that will technically work in Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero had to be renegotiated...We didn't want to do it for a couple songs. We wanted to do it for a couple hundred songs. So we have a lot cleared and we're in the process of clearing a lot more."

Although one thing worries me...

152 of 158 DLC tracks will work? What 6 didn't make the cut?

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't NBA Street, NBA Live, and NBA Ballers all EA products? I don't think that many important franchises would be lost (off the top of my head, just the ESPN/2k series). - StingArmy
