It's kinda surprising, but when you really think about it, he's in a shit ton of films. They may not all make a lot of money, but the amount of films he is in makes up for it. It also doesn't hurt being in the Star Wars prequels or all those Marvel films or Jurassic Park.

He probably did, but you have to remember Sam is in three successful film franchises Star Wars, Marvel and the QT films. We once had a discussion who was the greatest nerd actor of all time ie who was in Star Wars, LOTR, superhereos and so forth. It came out to be Christopher Lee with his roles in Star Wars, LOTR, Bond and his Hammer stint as well as Captain America TV appearance which I don't count,as the winner. Sam just needs to find a way into Bond or the Hobbit or the next Star Trek film and he might upset Lee.

Having done zero research, I would have guessed Johnny Depp. The POTC movies alone have made 4 billion. But that brings it back to Orlando Bloom who has the LOTR movies on top of POTC... | StingArmy

Some late night talk show host was talking to Sam Jack about this no less than a year ago. I wish I could remember which show or what year. He made a quip about wishing he'd asked for 10% of each film's gross. Maybe it just took this long for Guinness to verify everything?

* Re Sam Jackson: Does appearing in a scene during/after the end credits count as appearing in Iron Man?
