Less than two years following the formation of ProElite, Inc., the group notified employees and fighters Monday it was shutting its doors effective immediately, multiple sources confirmed to SI.com.

Robbie Lawler should be brought into the current mix of MWs.
Antonio Silva should be a money match vs Lesnar sometime down the line.
Maybe UFC will finally get some women's fights going so we can see Gina and Cyborg go at it finally.

I hope that Affliction adds Gina vs. Cyborg onto the PPV as the semi-main behind Fedor/Arlovski. That might just get them to break even...maybe.

I would think that Gina/Cyborg on this affliction show would be too soon after they bought fought a couple weeks ago. But, as far as I know, neither sustained any major injuries.
I hope Affliction would be smart enough to make a weight limit that Gina could actually achieve.

I don't feel bad for Carano. Two fights on CBS, and in one she failed to make weight, and in the other she only made weight by removing her clothes.

That's not fair to Carano at all. What happened was that EliteXC was too stupid to understand what the proper limit to put on her and the other women. Cyborg herself goes around 146 and no one complains about her being over the limit. Carano isn't some lazy, out of shape flub; she maintains what is considered a healthy weight on American Gladiators. And yet EliteXC is asking her to drop at least 5% (say about 7 lbs.) everytime she fights, which while it doesn't sound like much, can really affect your body long-term. It's like, hypopatheically (sp.?) asking Kurt Angle, if he were to do MMA like is rumored, to drop from his regular posted weight (250) to the MMA limit (say 235) everytime he fights. Sure, he can do it, but to have to do it continuiously it will really start to wear on him and he will find it more and more difficult to do it each time, since 250 is his regular, more healthy weight for which he needs to wrestle with. And yes, like Carano, he has to go back up because not only is it his reg. weight, it is also his/her regular job, the one they really depend on to get a regular paycheck. With the exception of Kimbo, I'm pretty sure no one fighting there was really making mountains of money.
Had XC been smart, they would had altered the limit for Carano to around 145 lbs. That way, the story would be about the quality of the matches instead of controversy in making it beforehand. It's what she and Cyborg fight as for the most part, anyway, as well as I'm sure as least a couple more female fighters. And I would perfer it that way instead of having to watch weakened stick figures go after each other in a lackluster match. For a company that was really trying to bulid her up as a big star, EliteXC really sabotaged her at times with the weight issue. Hopefully, Dana will see the dollar bills in having a women's division and won't mess it up as bad.

Nope, happens all the time actually. Many times boxers will wear just underwear or a jock strap at the official weigh-in.

A) Elite XC specifically designed that particular weight limit to benefit Carano.
b) Kurt Angle is and always has been an insane freak; even though his body was perfectly designed to destroy the light heavyweight division with a little cutting, he refused and fought at heavyweight against people likely as high as 50-60 pounds heavier than him. And won.
It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.

The American Fight League has made the decision to halt operations until the first quarter of 2009.
The organization's doors are still open and the roster of fighters remains the same.
AFL fighters are free to fight in whatever organization that they wish while maintaining their current contract status.
"Don't believe everything that you hear", CEO BJ Santiago said. "Big things will happen in 2009 for the American Fight League and it's fighters".
