Seven weeks to go (if the release date holds, which is a rarity in the gaming world).

I've got my copy preordered. Have you?

Are you kidding? I would pre-order every GTA game for the next 50 years if given the chance. You can't ask for any more from a game manufacturer than Rockstar gives you. They even made all the websites you hear about in the radio commercials real websites. Just check out petsovernite.com or pogothemonkey.com.

I understand from my DeLorean compadres that they are giving away a DeLorean ("80s car connected with 80s vice") as part of promoting sales of Vice City. True?

Hey Yo...

I'm actually NOT pre-ordering, and just crossing my fingers hoping to get it the second or third week. After reading about it in GameSpot they have me sold.

OVER 90 80's tunes! At least as of right now, that numer could change. Also, they have a ton of new weapons (I thjink like 50) and the amount of cars is just ridiculous. Also, kudo's to Rockstar for opening up the whole place from the beginning (unlike the last one where you had to stay on one part of the island until you beat certain missions). I can't wait to ride the motorcycle and hear Ray Liota's voice work!

EDIT: I just hope he says "Fuhgeddaboutit" once for old times sake.

The 80's tunes are actually one of the things I'm NOT looking forward to. One of the best things about GTA3 is that most of the songs were real tracks from relatively obscure artists -- I mean, how many gamers had honestly heard of Scientist before then? (He's the featured artist on Jah Radio, for those playing at home. I liked the music so much that I bought the album it came from.)

The first time I get into a GTA:Vice vehicle and the radio's playing Cutting Crew or Culture Club, on the other hand, I'm getting back out of the car and throwing a grenade into it. Stamp the virus out before it spreads.

Opening the city up completely... well, I'm going to wait and see how that pans out. Closing sections actually lowered the learning curve for GTA3 and worked out rather well -- it helped you learn one chunk of the city thoroughly before moving on to the next, kept some of the better cars and weapons mostly out of your hands for early missions, and gave you a sense of accomplishment when you unlocked a new district.

The new pizza-delivery missions alone ought to be hysterical, though, and any game where I can stab someone with a screwdriver is on my Christmas list.

The only thing that annoys me about GTAIII is, with that attention to detail, why are there no Mobatsu Monstrosities in town for me to steal. (The SUV they're always advertising on the radio - "I'm not an environmentalist - I'm a mom.")

Dammit, I wanna blow up a Mobatsu Monstrosity.

My friend has GTA3 on his computer, and you can make your own radio station made up of tracks on your computer. It's always cool to hijack a cab or something and find out they were listening to Bad Brains or Flogging Molly.

Edit: I forgot the main reason I replied.

Is it really worth getting? GTA4 comes out soon, doesn't it? I'm not getting it, as I'm gonna be out of the country for 10 months, but I would wait for GTA4 anyway.

One question. Is El Burro gonna be in this one too?

Isn't it ironic seeing a guy with a "Saved 1" shirt lying in a pool of his own blood with a head-sized hole in the car next to him?

For all intents and purposes, GTA: Vice _is_ GTA4. Bigger city than GTA3, more cars, more weapons, better targeting system, nine hours of music, revamped boating physics, more side missions, more celebrity voiceovers... this isn't a mission-pack add-on.

I'm sure Rockstar is working on more GTA mirth and merriment, but "GTA4" (named as such) isn't on anyone's release-date radar yet, and hasn't been formally announced.

El Burro ruled "I've hidden a Throbbing weapon.." The only returning character that I know of is the great Laslow.

Rockstar Games has announced on the official Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Web site that the release date of the upcoming PlayStation 2 freestyle crime game has been changed from October 22 to October 29. Rockstar representatives were unavailable for comment on the subject. The company has also released a few new screenshots from the game via one of the company's many fake Web sites devoted to fleshing out Vice City's 1980s storyline. These shots focus on a few of the vehicles found in GTA: Vice City.

Sometimes I really hate being prophetic.

(Oh, well. One extra week to wait isn't much, though I suspect it won't be the last delay.)
