Howdy! I finally started playing this game on PS2 a few days ago while snowed in...

I'm not too far into it yet -- I've done the first couple of OG Loc missions -- and I occasionally am unable to pick up a weapon. There's a sawed-off shotgun in a train car in Ocean Docks and some kind of machine gun on a rooftop East of Glen Park. I can stand right there -- with the gun actually rotating *through* me -- and it won't pick up.

I also just tried the Madd Dogg's Rhyme Book mission and I couldn't pick up the silenced pistols. I find this really annoying, since I'd really like to use those to finish the mission.

Anyone else have this problem, or hear anything about it?

You're only allowed to pick up one "type" of weapon. You already had a handgun and couldn't pick up the silenced ones. Stand over them and hit L1 and it will pick them up, but you will lose what you already have in that slot.

Just wait, it gets worse. I thought that part of the game was the most awkward. It's frustrating when you need to pick up a fire extinguisher and put out a fire, only you can't because you thought you picked one up on the third floor, but really you just walked through it and a camera/spray can/something else was in the extinguisher's slot.

Oh, duh.

The first few times I tried to pick up weapons into full slots, it gave me a notice in the upper corner, telling me that I had to press L1. I guess I just assumed that it would always give me that notice when I found something pick-uppable, but it'd stopped by the time I found these other weapons and I didn't think to try L1.

Thanks, guys!

Well... the problems solved, but I couldnt help saying- nice choice.

Im about to finish this game (I havent played in about 4 weeks) and I only can refer to it as the "Greatest Game ever Made!" (but then, maybe Im exaggerating)

Do you guys know where the hell I can find a minigun? Because I love it and its not included in any of the damn weapons cheats. Alright, thanks.

Nothing concrete, just a guess, but check around military installations. I know, "But I'll get shot up by all those guys with the my wanted level jacked because I broke into the restricted area!" Well, do you want the gun or not?

And if you doubt me, I got my pilots licence before finishing the first gang wars. (Hint: Park a car near the gate of the airport, jump off of it onto the gate and over...)

My PS2 isn't hooked up right now (too busy at the moment) but I swear after you do the aircraft carrier mission for Mike Toreno, a minigun gets spawned at his ranch in the desert, along with some other kickass weapons. I think you might have to be totally done with Toreno (and Verdant Meadows for that matter). Let me know.

A few words *cheats make the game a lot easier and better*.

Look me in the face and say you don't use cheats we all do.

Plus, doesn't it mess up the game if you do cheat? I thought I read that somewhere.

Myself, I've never used a cheat, but I could NEVER get through any of the GTA titles without the guides.

I don't cheat because it DOES effect your game. It even warns you before you try to save a game with a cheat active.

I have seen it first hand with my buddy's game. His got so funky he had to borrow my save to clear it up.

I cheated like hell in Vice City, but that was when I was just fucking around for stress relief. Like going up the beach road in a Rhino running over all the Faggios.

Yup, mini gun, rocket launcher and something else which escapes me.

Is there any way to get into the military installation in this one without getting 5 stars and the proverbial brown stuff blown out of you? I assumed there'd be a cheeky police uniform kicking around somewhere, but have had no joy.

Never used a cheat neither. Used a guide to find the hidden packages in Vice City, but there's not really any skill involved in finding them. Just way more patience than I've got.

I didn't cheat at all in San Andreas, and I beat it in, I think, 2 or 3 weeks. I was very happy with myself when I did it.

I cheated like hell in GTAIII, though.

I totally burned out on this game and have been unable to pick it up and play it since I got to the 'Las Vegas' section. I'm not sure what it is. I was loving this game. I know I'm not real big on some of the storyline jumps that have taken place and the way some characters have just kind of been brushed off or easily discarded. I'm also not sure where I've met Toreno before. Was he the pimps friend? I also think the Casino games are rigged horribly. I do like the extended freedom and the outback types of missions as well as the early gang banger missions.

Maybe I'm just longing for the 80's and the beaches of Vice City.

God, I wish I could even make it that far! I'm still stuck in the Badlands on "Farewell, My Love".
*curses the schmuck who decided to make racing missions necessary to advance the story*

As for cheats, I haven't used them yet, officially. I did mess around with the "Spawn a Vortex" cheat when I read on Gamefaqs that with enough Vortexes and satchel charges you can make a super explosion (referred to as an "atomic bomb", but I haven't seen screencap proof). I got bored before I spawned enough to do it though.

I have managed to sneak into San Fierro early by swimming over, stealing a car, and narrowly making it to a Pay 'n Spray to remove the 4-star wanted level. Nothing much to do there before the story takes you there, unfortunately. And when you try to leave the city, the wanted level comes back.
