It can be found here: http://www.411mania.com/ wrestling/columns/article.php? columns_id=2335

And I like it!

It reminds me of a book I read written by Studs Terkel where he just talked to people of various vocations, and would write down what they said.

The ending to this story was unusual, though.

It makes me wonder about how wrestlers whose biggest achievement is a position on Wrestlecrap.com?

Also, it makes me realize that Vince McMahon runs a wrestling business, not a rehab center. People make their own choices in life. Some people choose a path that ends in a nosedive in front of a few dozen disinterested people.

Nice writing, Grut.

I liked that a lot too. So much so I didn't even comment on him saying "I don't write about wrestling anymore, jerk" a thread or two below this one. :)

I was DYING to throw some smart ass crack right back at him when I saw that, but I'm not in the mood to get banned yet.

This was a tremendous column, imo. Grutman always brings the goods; his short plays based on songs (on Flea's webpage) are also generally pretty good. His one based on U2's "Numb" is Monty Python-esque in its style and quality of humour.

Judging by DiscoDave's quote, I think your sig might be slightly incorrect Grut. This of course in no ways changes the fact that once again the Wrestling Tale rocked the party and was far too good for us IWC wretches to be visited by ;)

His writing is good but his Noo Yawk attitude leaves a LOT to be desired.

Just to keep the Grut love train a'rollin', his first article on 411 Black is also very good.

Although the story was well written and an interesting read I did find it to be very corny and predictable.

I would have to agree with Mr. Malton there. It was pretty predictable. But hey it was still really well written, much like his plays are.

Mark, check out the archives. I got a lot of them. I'm glad you liked this one though. It was inspired by being a member of the wienerboard.

I've made a lot of fun of Zed over the years, but he recently proved to me exactly the kind of guy he is. With no jest and no joke, I want to publicly express my admiration to CRZ for how he runs his forums and the way he thinks about issues. I know I speak for all of us except a few of my friends who despise you when I say that we look forward to seeing you back on the web.

The new one is also really good! I think it might be even better than The Heel! Very nice ending. Grut, you're an innovator. Here is a link for those interested: http://www.411mania.com/ wrestling/columns/article.php? columns_id=2345
Grut is really the only person I can think of to combine wrestling and fiction so well. I mean, just look at THIS: http://www.angelfire.com/ realm/wwffanfiction/wwf_slumber_party.htm
Gives me a headache. Reminds me of Hanging Gardens from way back when...
So be grateful for Grut and be glad that the premiere piece of original stories about wrestling doesn't end with Vince McMahon coming home and yelling about a hole in his lawn.

I'd think the tricky thing (which would require Zim-intervention) is that the files are pdf, not plaintext/html. So they'd have to be hosted someplace & linked to, rather than the usual Wienerboard model of "paste in the text" ...
