He looks good for a 43 yr old guy who's broken down (thanks wikipedia). How long ago was this match?
(edited by DirtyMikeSeaver on 20.9.06 1117) Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"
Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"
Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"
Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."
I did love the opening vignette, though, including them having Tajiri offer Muta flowers and mist on them ("Don't think...FEEL"). And I think I like Muta's "Demon from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" mask.
As for the match itself? Really didn't do a whole lot for me. There were some funny spots, and Muta really knows how to play a complete weirdo well, but most of it was stalling and on the few occassions it did get physical it didn't look all that good. Then again, that seems to be the case with most of Keiji Mutoh's "Muta" matches in Japan that I've seen, even going back to the mid to late 90s.
The dynamic was just right, given the company invasion angle and the competition involved. And it's absolutely something that can only be pulled off ONCE.
