Triple H vs. Edge, WWE Championship match: Triple H retains, but the chase is not over for Edge. I'm surprised they're using up this match right out of the chute.
CM Punk vs. Batista, World Heavyweight Championship match: I'm rooting for Punk to retain, but I think Batista wins it.
Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer, ECW Championship Match: I can't see Dreamer getting the belt here.
John Cena vs. JBL, NYC Parking Lot Brawl: Has JBL defeated Cena yet? The streak continues for the chosen one.
Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho: I think Jericho should get the win, but I'm going with HBK.
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya, Divas Championship: I'm gonna go Natalya here.
Miz & Morrison vs. Finlay & Hornswoggle vs. Ryder & Hawkins vs. Jesse & Festus, Fatal Four-Way, WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Eh, Ryder & Hawkins get the gold, to make the championship-less Edge jealous.
Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin, U.S Title Match: I'll go with Matt retaining, since they obviously didn't put a lot of thought into this match.
Triple H vs. Edge, WWE Championship match: Triple H but this isn't the last he's heard of Edge.
CM Punk vs. Batista, World Heavyweight Championship match: Batista. Punk winning was for surprise/shock value only really.
Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer, ECW Championship Match: I'm actually gonna go with Dreamer here. Henry's the insanely obvious choice, especially using WWE Think, so I'm gonna roll the dice and go with Tommy.
John Cena vs. JBL, NYC Parking Lot Brawl: Cena. Yawn.
Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho: Let me echo the "Jericho SHOULD win but HBK will win" comment.
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya, Divas Championship: Natalya, there's gotta be a heel champion not in ECW somewhere.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Oops, forgot these belts existed. Miz and Morrison retain.
Michigan against the SEC: 20-5-1 (7-3 in bowl games)
Interesting sidenote: I work at the LI marriott near the Nassau Coliseum, where the GAB is taking place. So I'll probably get to see some of the WWE superstars on Sun. The last time they were here was in Oct. and I got to see Great Khali, The Miz, and Cherry among others. The kicker though is that the Ultimate Warrior is having a meet and greet between 1-4pm in the same hotel! That should make for one rather awkard but funny confrontation between him and other WWE personel.
Anyway, on with the results:
Fatal 4- way: Miz/ Morrison retains. Could be fun to watch, since I like all 4 teams when played to their strengths.
Hanry/Dreamer: It would be nice to see Dreamer win the ECW championship for the first time in almost a decade. But I got Henry retaining after interference from Atlas.
McCool/Natalya: McCool wins by roll-up. But they should have Natalya win and give the push they gave Beth Phoenix last year.
Cena/JBL: This is getting repetitive. It's the 4 PPV in the last 5 to include them in the same match. The same results: Cena winning in a lackluster brawl.
HBK/Y2J: Match of the night and possible MOTY. HBK wins by underhanded tatics, like pulling the tights or using the ropes. Y2J then goes batshit and he and Cade attack HBK. If it was a perfect world, the WWE would sign Bryan Danielson and have him make his debut here saving his mentor from a beatdown, leading to a sweet tag team match at Summerslam.
HHH/Edge: HHH wins due to a messup between Edge and Vickie. It could be a good match, but I'm worried that the telegraphed ending could throw it off a bit.
Punk/Batista: Punk retains thanks to Kane getting involved. I think it will lead up to Kane/Batista and Punk/Cena at Summerslam.
Overall, it should a good, solid PPV to watch, but not too many championships are going to change hands on sunday.
Punk/Batista: Punk, unless they want to totally squash him and kill his future ME chances.
HHH/Edge: Edge wins and HHH spends the summer chasing Edge.
Mizark/Dreamer: Henry. Sigh.
Y2J/HBK: HBK by full blown plainly obvious cheating. No beat down afterwards but on RAW and scathing promo by Y2J on how much of a cheating douche bag HBK is.
Cena/JBL: JBL but no one will care.
Fatal 4 Way: Miz and Morrison.
"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."
Matt/Shelton for US title has been added to the card apparently.
(Rumored, doubt it will happen, will pick just in case): Simply Priceless over Cryme Tyme. I don't see this happening since there's already 8 matches and it has not been officially announced. ---- I'm even going to predict the order of the card, for fun! ---- US title: Shelton Benjamin over Matt Hardy. I have no logical explanation for this, I am just going with my gut and heart here.
WWE tag titles: Miz/Morrison retain. They have a long title reign and it would be interesting to see it killed off in a fatal 4 way, but after the long title reign I do not see it ending in a match that was randomly booked and will have no heat. I don't like anyone in this match except Finlay.
ECW title: Mark Henry over Tommy Dreamer. Good to see Tommy get a PPV title shot in 2008, but come on now.
Parking Lot Brawl: John Cena over JBL. Cena will never lose to JBL on pay per view. Ever. Hopefully this kills the feud.
World Title: CM Punk and Batista go to a non finish due to Kane interference. Triple threat next month, perhaps, or Punk/Cena and Batista/Kane.
Divas Title: Natayla over Michelle. I think they are pushing Natayla pretty hard right now and it'd be messed up to job her here. Then again, they had Beth lose to Candice so who knows.
Chris Jericho over Shawn Michaels. And I don't see London turning on Michaels at all, at least not yet. Keep it 2 vs 2 for now, until Summerslam at least.
WWE Title: I almost expect a non finish here too, but I already predicted one, so I'll go with my original pick and stay with Edge beating HHH so Hunter can eventually get #13 back in a few months.
Edge def. HHH to win the WWE Title (Familia-ference) Punk def. Batista to retain Henry def. Dreamer to retain Jericho def. Michaels via interference, sets up gimmick match at SummerSlam Edge Heads def. Miz/Morrison, Finlay/Hornswoggle & Jesse/Festus to win WWE Tag Team Title Cena def. JBL Neidhart def. McCool to win the Divas Title Hardy def. Benjamin to retain
Well, Goldberg was a top star in the United States for four active years. That's about equal to Ultimate Warrior, who Goldberg was more famous than and who WWE invited to be inducted last year before it fell apart over money.
