Earlier in the day, it was that moving to Iowa.
Nevertheless, the wheels are starting to fall off of the Graham campaign. He'll probably run for his old seat again. It's always a shame, regadless of the party, to have a reasonably(REASONABLY, for a Democrat) competent candidate jump into a presidential race to realize he is years late on jumping in.
Looks like we'll probably be back to nine here soon...

Do any of these people honestly think they're going to win? I know Sharpton's mostly interested in getting his opinions heard (and he's never shyed away from camera time), and you can make a case for Dennis Kucinich doing the same thing - but what in the hell do the other three think they're bringing to the table?
Let it be Dean, Clark, Kerry and Gephardt. It's going to be one of them anyway.

Libererman is still near the top in South Carolina and Arizona. He can probably still pull it out.

The establishment needed another black left-wing of the party candidate to blunt Sharpton. She owes her political life to the party, they called in those chits, thus she runs, and gets to keep her name in the news until deciding what to do next. And if a Dem wins, maybe she gets her old job of Ambassador to New Zealand back.

To extend on Mosely-Braun being in the race: Her job is to prevent Sharpton from hijacking Tuesday night of the convention, as Buchanan did to the Republicans in '92. Sharpton gets enough delegates to have some sway in the Vice Presidential or Presidential proceedings, and he can get half an hour or more on network TV provided for him. That is up there with on the top of the Democrats worst nightmare scenarios. Of course, Mumbles Menino opening the convention will be a classic moment (if the Red Sox pull off the miracle and knock off the A's, maybe he'll bring the spaceship with him Together, we can make it happen. Thank you all for coming.), and of course, the Drivers Ed. Teacher of the Democratic Party should be able to have some time provided for a drunken spiel in Boston as well.

Take Gephardt out of that list and we're set for the primaries.
Personally, I prefer to only see serious (read: those who have a snowball's chance in hell of actually winning) candidates in races such as this, it's hard to have a clear exchange of ideas and personalities when there's a mob vying for the job.
Dean, Clark and Kerry. Let 'em rip. Get the jobbers outta there. |
