I play a lot of games, but am not really on the cutting age of the gaming community. Right now I'd say my favorite games that came out this year are either God of War III or Pac Man Championship II.

I've heard a lot of good things about those Professor Layton games and I never game them a second thought. They are that good?

Have a hard time picking just one. Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 both stand out to me. I'm sure Fallout: New Vegas is great too, but I still didn't finish Fallout 3, so I didn't pick it up.

I'll give an honourable mention to Dragon Quest IX as well. Sure, it's a handheld RPG, but it managed to hook me in like few recent games have. Others who played it should be able to vouch likewise!

Guess I need to get back on Red Dead. Played just a little when I first got it and got away from it.

Mass Effect 2, followed very closely by Red Dead Redemption. (Haven't played Fallout: New Vegas yet, however).
