While checking to see if the Friars were at home while I'm in town for Comicon, I found the list for Promotional Nights this season.

Hey Guru, I see some nights I may have to entice you to goto the games to get me some swag. :>

So I wonder what Padres 80s night is supposed to be. I'll be in sunny SD for that one.

Hey Guru - can I buy you a beer that night? You, too, Z, if you're in the neighborhood.

A few things:
1) If a disco night is going to occur, there has to be a corresponding Disco Demolition night. Just wait until after the games are played, not during the middle of a double-header.
2) This is the most important one: Where the hell is 10 cent beer night? The place would be packed that night.

The floppy hat nights are the key to the season.

I will definitely be getting tickets to these games if you want anything from these nights... Let me know what games you are interested in.

Friday June 6 Padres Retro KGB Sky Show presented by the San Diego County Toyota Dealers

Saturday June 21 Brown & Gold Reversible Floppy Hats presented by the San Diego County Toyota Dealers / Padres Wives Food Drive

Saturday Aug. 23 Qualcomm Stadium Commemorative Clocks

Friday Sept. 26 Padres Collector Pin Puzzle #8 presented by Coca-Cola* / Say Goodbye to the Q Fireworks / Coca-Cola Family Night
Saturday Sept. 27 PETCO Park Baseball Caps presented by PETCO and Hill's Science Diet / Shirts Off Their Backs Fundraiser
Sunday Sept. 28 Qualcomm Stadium Commemorative Ticket Holders presented by Sycuan

Your analogy is similar to:

"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?"
"I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?"
"They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"

-- my new favorite quote from Slashdot comments.

Guru, how could you miss this one?

May 3 D.Winfield BobbleHead presented by Cox Communications

Which, by the way, is my birthday. :>

Were in I SD all year, here are the ones I would go to...

March 31 Padres 1969 Replica
April 5 Padres 1969 Inaugural Season Pennants
May 3 Dave Winfield Bobble Head Dolls
June 7 Padres 1984 Replica Caps
June 21 Brown & Gold Reversible Floppy Hats
Aug. 22 1969 Turn Back the Clock Game
Sept. 6 Padres All-Time Team Baseball Card Sets

-- There are three giveaways during Comicon weekend of four games, but none on the game I think I want to attend (which is the Thursday matinee).

Well, with Wednesday night being preview night, Thursday generally is the day to network at 'Con, isn't it? Fri - Sun are whoring to the masses, but Thursday you can actually have a conversation with people (if you try)

Actually, what would be perfect is a Saturday afternoon game, allowing a person to ESCAPE the con, when there are so many people you can't breathe in the hall.

It all really depends on whether we get a table/booth/space at the show. IT may also depend on, when time gets closer, who is pitching when. The series vs. the D-Backs is the first one after the All-Star Break, so the first game of the series may feature Schill or Unit (who are classic).

odessa: YOUR birthday? I claimed the rights to that one TWENTY-ONE years ago!

(checks the date in your profile, realizing you kinda had first crack at it)

I'm just curious about the ticket holder giveaway... what exactly ARE they? Like, plastic sleeves on lanyards?

Speaking of Disco Demolition, I wasn't there (was still living in Layayette at that time), but I spent a lot of years listening to Steve Dahl, who was the jock that pulled that one off. (He's the guy you see in the Hawaiian Shirt and helmet on the tapes).

What a lot of people don't know is that not only was Comiskey Park filled to capacity (since you could get in for next to nothing with a disco record), but there were another 10 to 15 thousand outside trying to get in.

The problem is that CDs just aren't as much fun as 12 inch records to blow up (or frisbee).

We'll be back as soon as order is restored.....
