Man, these things are really coming in bunches now. Mr. Carlson from WKRP (and the Maytag repair man) has died. OF course, I can picture Les Nesman skipping over this in a news report in order to further discussion on pigs. I think a WKRP retrospective marathon is in order.

Time to do a Red Sox pennant chase supply list: Arsenic: check. Cyanide: check. Booze: check. Fully loaded gun for full chamber Russian Roulette: check. Ok, I'm prepared, let the pennant race commence.

This is depressing. First Jack Tripper, now Mr. Carlson. Two classic comedic characters from two classic shows gone. This sucks.

Hi. We're the Cleveland Browns (clevelandbrowns.com). We Suck. We always suck. We will continue to suck for years to come. But hey, we have these groovy new orange pants now.

I hate to say this, but I'll always remember Gordon Jump from that episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" where he molested Dudley. I think that killed the guy's acting career.

Washington Huskies, 2-1. Why, oh why, did the Ducks have to beat Michigan? Those Duck fans will NEVER let us hear the end of it.

That was the first thing to come to my mind as well. Being a smidgen too young to recall WKRP in anything other than syndication.

He also played a recurring role as Alan Thicke's dad on Growing Pains.

I was gonna post this last night but was way too sad...this actually sucks more than Ritter.

I LOVED WKRP, and actually got to meet Jump last year when he was in town for Stampede. Super, super nice guy...

And let's not forget his stellar performance as George Costanza's boss Mr. Thomassoulo. "I'll see you in hell, Costanza."

RIP Big Guy

FYI, TVLand has been showing WKRP late on Friday & Saturday nights. (Upcoming episodes are on 9/27 @ 12:30am, & 9/28 @ 12:30am, Phoenix time -- your timezones may vary.)

back in the '80's I used to vol at the local edition of MDA(jerry lewis) telethon in San Diego. Jump was always there too (he had an acting school in La mesa at the time.) i talked to him several times and he was always really cool to me. WKRP was one of the reasons I got into radio. i'm gonna miss him.

Impossibly classless move by my local radio station....

They finished playing Van Halen's "Jump," and then segued right into talking about Jump's death. Unbelievable.

"When this bogus term alternative rock was being thrown at every '70s retro rehash folk group, we were challenging people to new sonic ideas. If some little snotty anarchist with an Apple Mac and an attitude thinks he invented dance music and the big rock group is coming into his territory, [that's] ridiculous." - Bono, 1997

Not as kind of a tribute thing? I could see it being classless if they had segued into it from Kriss Kross's "Jump"...

I always thought of Jump as "the guy who played the guy in charge on the show with Loni Andersons boobs on it". I had forgotten about the molesting Dudley thing...actually, I want to forget it again.

The memories of my family outings are still a source of strength to me. I remember we'd all pile into the car - I forget what kind it was - and drive and drive. I'm not sure where we'd go, but I think there were some trees there. The smell of something was strong in the air as we played whatever sport we played. I remember a bigger, older guy we called "Dad." We'd eat some stuff, or not, and then I think we went home. I guess some things never leave you.

If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

1495 listings? I think you got all of Aroostook County there, Guru. None of those listings are anywhere near Portland. In fact, they not anywhere near any civilization.
