The Lions have been terrible for so long that it's awesome seeing a performance like todays. To blow out the Broncos like that is just what they needed after beating the Bears twice in the same season. I was there today and Ford Field was rocking! Detroit has had to endure so many bad seasons that I think we just have to appreciate when they're doing good.
I wanted Detroit to beat Chicago because I was more afraid of Chicago. Now I think I should have been more afraid of Detroit. It seems like Detroit and Green Bay are going to go toe-to-toe all season.

I wanted Detroit to beat Chicago just because they're Chicago, but I realized after that we were better off with a 2 game lead over the Lions. I hate that we don't play them until late in the season; I really want to know who's better (and I hope it's us).
The really terrifying thing is that we're going to have to play against Adrian Peterson twice a season for the next 10-12 years. He absolutely terrifies me.

I'm staring at a flexed final game of the year at Lambeau on 12/30 against Detroit. It beats the hell out of KC at the Jets.
As a Lions-turned-Steelers fan, I can honestly say I am shocked and at a loss over how the Lions are performing this year. I fully expect them to end up only .500, but considering everything else going on with the franchise that's a good thing.
But despite whatever deal they struck with Satan to get this far, they aren't going to win the division and are still questionable for the playoffs. After all, they have to contend with a number of powerhouses at the end of their schedule and haven't had their two losses...err, games with the Packers yet. The key thing to remember is, they are still the Lions. They will not win in Washington, and Brett Favre will always find a way to beat them even when they're good.
Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... I couldn't be happier for Rod Marinelli. He was a Tampa guy through and through, spent a decade working his tail off and fighting for Buccaneer Nation in relative obscurity to Dungy, McKay, Kiffin, Gruden, Allen, etc. He deserves every bit of the success he's having in Detroit, and for their fans, it's a long time coming.
Now, if they could just do something about the GM, they'd really be getting somewhere. ;-)
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
Now that my Michael Vick jersey is practically criminal to wear on any day other than Halloween, perhaps it's time to break out the Barry Sanders jersey!
For years, I had noticed the remarkable similarities between the Lions and the Browns in NFL futility. Glad to see the Lions are finally turning the corner as well!

I think the Lions will need to beat the Cardinals (road) and Giants (home) in order to carry the momentum into the Thanksgiving game against the Pack. The thing is, the Lions haven't done so hot against teams that actually have a decent QB...
They've been great at home and their bread and butter is getting turnovers, and Favre does like to through INTs so who knows? Turkey Day should be a real good game, unlike last year losing to Joey Ballgame and Miami, ugh.
I think right about the Thanksgiving Day game, people are going to start asking around about what you Detroiters have done with Matt Millen
FOX execs have to be thrilled about this game, considering what they likely expected it to be at the start of the year. Since my Bears are down and out this year (at least), it's always nice to have a story like the Lions pop up from out of nowhere. But there's also a whole lot of Favre respect, so I can just relax and watch the game.
And then we *all have Adrian Peterson to deal with for the seven years or so, so enjoy the lofty view while you can..

I don't think it's coincidence. It's mid-June, and they're starting QB now is probably Luke McCown. Brees probably doesn't need the practice, but his distance is surprising.
