Usually if you click on the graphic, you get some related pages, but tonight the search (google.com) is just leading me to more fractal images. All of which is spiffy, except I'm left thinking I'm missing something. Is today Mandelbrot's Birthday or something??? What have I missed???| Promote this thread! | | Ruby Trax

| #2 Posted on 3.2.04 0537.57 | Instant Rating: 8.25 | Hmm, using THAT VERY SAME google.com I found the following in like two seconds.
http://www-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/ ~history/Mathematicians/ Julia.html
Gaston Maurice Julia Born: 3 Feb 1893 in Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria
and also
http://www.encyclopedia4u.com/g/gaston-julia.html
Gaston Maurice Julia (1893-1978) was a French fractal mathematician who devised the formula for the Julia set. His works were popularised by French mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot, and the Julia and Mandelbrot fractals are closely related.
Julia was born in February 3 1893 ...
And so on. Such is the breathtaking magic of using a search engine (such as GOOGLE.COM).

Wait... I DID! Perhaps you might deign to share with me exactly what search keywords (The google response page URL, please. Remember how stupid I am.) got you those 2 links. I didn't (still don't) see either of them in the first 5 pages of results that I get.
Thanks for the informational content though. | TheCow

| #5 Posted on 3.2.04 2021.55 | Instant Rating: 8.25 | My search was actually the original "julia fractals" that Google provided, but instead of searching in "images" I searched in "Web" and I added today's date, "february 3." I know, I'm a genius.
I'm not sure if it was there before, but I notice now there's also an ALT tag attached to the image reading "Gaston Julia's Birthday" for the exceptionally feeble-minded.

Looks ALSO like the link you just provided there, along with a slashdotting (slashdot.org), is providing them with the same problem.
I dunno, I still kinda think most people would KILL for those kind of "problems." ;-)

How do you think I found out about that link?
We need to come up with some reason to submit a thread to /.. Then we can test your servers...

No. They won't live and the Slashdot crowd is about 95% assholes when it comes to wrestling.
Spoken as part of the 5%.
