| #1 Posted on 21.3.03 1731.12 | According to 411mania.com/411wrestling.com/1wrestling.com:
----
The latest reports indicate that Goldberg has signed with WWE. Dave Scherer of 1wrestling.com reports that Goldberg will be on the cover of the next WWE Magazine, with the headline being "WHO'S NEXT: Sparks Fly As Goldberg Hits WWE."
WWE has not confirmed the story, and likely won't confirm it until it makes sense from a storyline standpoint.
The plan right now appears to be to have Goldberg debut at WrestleMania or on the following RAW/Smackdown. It is not known what brand he will be part of.
While a deal does look to be done, it should be noted that this has been reported before and we will likely not know for 100% sure until we actually see Goldberg appear on TV (or WWE acknowledges it themselves).
----
Perhaps we have our guest ref for the Vince/Hogan match?

| #6 Posted on 21.3.03 1926.10 | I am not as anti-Goldberg as most of the IWC. In fact I thought he was a lot of fun. In WCW, even if he wanted to improve, who would have helped him? It was a "show up, shut up, do your job, and go home" environment.
My only problem with this is Vince brings back all the big stars in one month. Rocky, Hogan, Austin, and Golberg all back within a month. I mean, Austin and Golberg should have been left at home. I understand having Hogan/Vince for 'Mania and I understand that Rocky's unavailable later in the year, so I get why he brought those guys back. But why put the rush on Stone Cold and now Goldberg, the last unsigned major star in the industry. I'd have had Austin back at KOTR or "Badd Blood" or whatever, then when Austin's contract ran out, brought in Goldberg in the fall. I don't understand why Vince brings all these guys to create interest in the first quarter of the year. He's got nine more months to go and literally no more tricks up his sleeve. It's a timing issue more than anything else.

Anyhows, I'd like to see Goldberg in a WWE ring. I mean, I thought that he pulled a great match out of Steiner when Steiner was still wearing his face mask (I enjoyed it, and Steiner even attempted a crossbody from the top rope).

| #15 Posted on 22.3.03 0734.18 | Actually, there's one more desperation signing Vince could try before finally giving up on looting the corpse of WCW: Sting. Hasn't it been rumored that they're talking about it? Sure, Sting has said in the past he doesn't want to work for WWE, but Vince can still throw plenty of money at him, and I can't imagine he wants to finish out his career in WWA.

No. Vince ALWAYS has someone else. Let's face it. The guy has NO faith in his midcard talent. He's got Jericho, Van Dam, Booker, Guerrero, Benoit, Rhyno, and others who are more than capable of carrying the company into the future, yet he'd rather go out and get old WWF guys and old WCW guys. And believe me, we'll be seeng Sting, Lex Luger, and Randy Savage with the WWE World Title way before we see Rob Van Dam or Booker T with it.
And even when the old guys fail, Vince always has more shit up his sleeve. Vince's theory:

wake up Vince your sitting on a goldmine.
Does John Cena have a cd coming out?...I'd be first in line to buy it. I was reading an on-line report about when WCW released that mayhem cd with Goldberg on the cover?...man that piece of crap never moved off the store shelves. why? I know why! because goldberg was on the cover, maybe if they would have put chris benoit, or dean malenko, perry saturn, or the hurricane on the front it would have done better.
as far as the WWE Magazine cover goes, it's gotta be a fake. I've been watching wrestling for 5 months now and have gotten the last 2 WWE Magazines so I can tell. | whatever

I have the awful feeling that they'll feed him to the "Heroes of WCW CrusHHHing Machine" after WM. If that were true, then I fear for Booker T's title match. If this is the case, I hope Goldberg practices his "Jovial Coffee Cup-Holding" pose. He'd need it in a month or two.

I can agree with you somewhat on that. the only time Vince went with the mid-carders is when WCW signed away most of their upper-card wrestlers and were getting destroyed in the ratings. Austin, Rock and HHH were all WWF mid-carders at that time.
I don't think Vince would be that desperate to bring Luger in (unless they are hiring for ring crew help) but Savage and Sting could be possibilities. Vince will eventually have no choice to start pushing some of your listed wreslers. Hopefully Booker will get the title at WMX9.

Aw leave Albert-Train alone, he's not so bad. Look at all the killer heat his back hair gets
Of the guys you listed as the future though, sadly only Rhyno and Chavo are significantly (more than a year) younger than the likes of HHH, Angle, and Rocky.
While RVD might be new to us the guy's almost 33 and still has pretty major flaws in his make-up (mic work/selling etc.).
Of the others Rhyno looks like he's gonna be treated pretty well going by what we've seen since his return, and I can see Y2J and Booker both going over at WM which would be a massive step for them. Even if Book doesn't win there I'm damn near certain he's gonna be our next RAW champeen at Backlash.
Hell, Lesnar, Orton, Batista, Team Angle, Nathan Jones and Cena have all been given pretty hefty pushes since they came in and there careers all look in better shape than the much maligned Alberts.
Because business has been in a downturn of late theres a tendancy to criticise every move the WWE makes just now, but to accuse them of not doing anything to try and elevate new talent seems a tad misguided.
