Why not use the Godzilla classic instead of imitation Godzilla?

MOVIE. EVER.) I just can't seem to figure out why this commercial is airing nearly ten years after the movie was originally in theaters. Did the Doritos people have this commerical in the can all these years and finally decided that NOW would be the best time to show it? Was it kept off the air so long for legal reasons (copyright issues and such)? I bet there are a bunch of people now who - upon seeing the commercial - don't even realize that it's supposed to be Godzilla. Just weird, all around.

I guess they needed to do something with Zilla (The official name of the American Godzilla) as Godzilla squashed him in about 15 seconds in the new Godzilla movie from last year or so. "You want to tempt the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing?" --Toby, West Wing
Practically the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far has had the "evil opposites" theme; you could practically pair all the villains up and call them the Linear Guild. Not that it makes the films any less awesome in my estimation.
