| #1 Posted on 19.12.02 2138.51 | I've always been a huge Hugh Morrus fan. Can anyone predict where his momentum will head him? I mean, he totally crushed through the competition tonight. Unfortunately, while people like Leviathan are crushing credible foes like Kane, Bill crushed a bunch of guys who were about half his size... but it was still cool nonetheless. I wonder if he'll end up teaming (or facing) big ol' "A-Train"?
I was kind of sad that it made Nunzio's (what was his former name?) debut pretty unamazing, but I am excited to see Bill get somewhat of a push.
That is all.

I mean, once TE3 wraps up, I just don't think we're gonna be seeing Mr. DeMott all that much.
And that's not a bad thing; that's a GOOD thing.

| #5 Posted on 20.12.02 1333.16 | You say "fat guy" like it's a bad thing. The WWE could use more fat guys cuz almost all of them are totally ripped, so it provides more variety. Plus Bill seems to be much more mobile than other of the big guys. I guess we'll see if he's still getting pushed after TE3 ends.

| #6 Posted on 20.12.02 1339.12 | Did you ever think that they, I don't know, are GOING somewhere with this angle? Maybe one of the cruisers is going to 'put a stop to it" and start a feud. It is a pretty formulaic angle, but it works...

Sure, everyone picks on the fat guy. LEAVE HIM ALONE! FAT GUYS ARE PEOPLE TOO!
Variety...pleh. Do you suggest they hire Bastian Booger next? Playboy Buddy Rose? Why oh why do we need worthless lard-asses like Bill DeMott to "balance out" the roster of, you know, ACTUALLY ATHLETIC people with muscles and stuff?
He's nothing but a loudmouthed piece of trash who likes to pick on kids 1/3 his size. What do people see in this guy?

| #8 Posted on 20.12.02 1343.57 | I don't think they are going anywhere with it. It seems to me that they're giving him the beginning stages of a Brock push, where they want him to kill people to get him over but would rather not sacrafice anyone with actual, you know, size.
That being said, I'm all for a Bill DeMott push. The guy is intense and I think he could be real believable as a guy who just squashes the ever-loving crap out of people. Eventually, though, they're going to have to put him over normal-sized guys instead of just the cruisers.
If he were on Raw, there's an angle that's tailor-made for him: just have him squash all the Tough Enough guys mercilessly until the day when the current Tough Enough season ends and the winner can come out and challenge him. | Punkinhed

From a certain angle, the push makes storyline sense. Why should everyone who comes from Tough Enough be nice? We've talked often enough about how the wrestlers must feel about these kids getting contracts that they worked years towards. Why shouldn't someone be bitter about that, at least in kayfabe mode? Granted, Bill's a bit jiggly, but he's got good mobility and looks mean. Give him a little time to work out and then criticise.

Buddy Rose helped keep Shawn Michaels from winning the AWA Tag Title for 7 months with his breathtaking skill.

| #11 Posted on 20.12.02 1652.38 | I saw General Rection vs. Shane Douglas at Starrcade at the MCI Center back in 2000. It was just an awful match. Rection/Hugh/Bill just kept going to the bearhug over and over and over. And he was the face. Outside of Bagwell/Booker, I've never seen a crowd turn on a match like that because of the work.
Did you ever think that they, I don't know, are GOING somewhere with this angle?
I wish this was still a time when I was giving WWE the benefit of the doubt. If they're putting on a string of matches that involve guys I like getting squashed by a low midcarder, and there's no immediately apparent payoff coming down the road, I won't like it. It may turn out that this builds into something entertaining, but right now it's something that makes me change the channel.
As for having more fat men, I'm all for it, as long as they're good fat men. Bring in Super Boy, he's tubby as hell and can hang with the cruiserweights. Demott is better than Mark Henry, but he's not someone I look forward to watching wrestle by a long shot. |
