So when Titanic swept they were endorsing the sinking of boats?
No, they were awarding a film that up till the day it came out in theatres, everyone had pretty much given up on and thought it would be the biggest stinker this side of ISHTAR, HEAVEN'S GATE, and CLEOPATRA.
During production, anyone and everyone were claiming that it was beyond watchable and that the studio needed to pull the plug on it before they lost anymore money.
Obviously, those 'anyone and everyone's' were wrong and the film wasn't all that bad to pretty decent and went on to sail into the sunset without sinking.
Has anyone noticed the 'news articles and advertisements' that have started poping up claiming that BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is doing remarkable business in small, rural areas with heterosexual couples? I'd like to see the proof of that, cause it's box office in take isn't all that good so far. | oldschoolhero

| #22 Posted on 20.1.06 0300.51 | Instant Rating: 5.91 | For the past four weeks or so Brokeback's been the highest-grossing per-screen film in the top ten. Its doing astonishing numbers, given the amount of theatres its playing at. Click here for more info.
You're basically looking to run a smear campaign against a film that, by your own admission, you haven't even seen. And you're not even doing your research properly. Why? What about it offends you so much? Never mind, I read the letter in the Politics forum. I just can't see how this kind of narrow-minded outlook fits in a supposedly tolerant, progressive society.
