| #10 Posted on 10.10.03 1352.12 | Instant Rating: 1.72 | A friend of mine who works at Urban Outfitters and I were talking about this last night after the NAACP help a rally outside the store here in New Haven yesterday. The game had been on the shelves for a couple weeks at least , he couldn't remember exactly when, but they weren't having any trouble keeping it in stock. Then the news hit and they sold out in an hour Wednesday. And the phones were ringing off the hook yesterday with people trying to ge the game. He was pissed that he didn't scarf up a couple copies to sell on Ebay.
As for the kind of people who shop at Urban. Just last weekend my friend asked me to help him deliver a couch they had sold. We got there and grabbed this butt ugly '70's reject, a table and lamp. We then took it to a very atractive young female doctor's appartment. She proceeded to give him a wad of cash for us to split for delivering the couch. When we went out to the truck and counted it up she had given us $160 for deliving the piece of crap. I couldn't believe it and asked him how much they had sold her the couch for. He told me they sold it for either 3 or 4 hundred. I replied that she could have gotten it for $40 at the salvation army. He just laughed and told me that was where they got it in the first place and that it happens all the time.
Now you will receive us. We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry. We do not want your tired and sick. It is your corrupt we claim. It is your evil that will be sought by us. With every breath, we shall hunt them down. Each day we will spill their blood, 'til it rains down from the skies. Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior, and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over, in to true corruption, into our domain. For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it. And we will send you to whatever god you wish. Collin & Murphy MacManus | NEO

The world is not against black people either. Let's look at the initials of the NAACP.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
Why do colored people need advancement? We've got Constitutional documents (13th and 14th Amendments spring to mind) about everyone being equal! So, essentially, the NAACP wants to Advance Colored People beyond their state of equality, thus making them racist.
[rant] Before you take my head off about the fact of the matter, punish the lawbreakers. Give a black guy and a white guy an equal shot at getting a job. Don't call the black guy "nigger" and chase him out of town with a pitchfork. Don't tell the white guy that the government says you have to give the black guy the job. Flip a fucking coin if you can't decide! If a white guy is better suited for a job than a black guy, give the white guy the job! If a black guy is better suited than the white guy, give the black guy the job! Why does the government feel they have to force equality on us, when what they're really doing is preventing true equality from surfacing? A white guy and a black guy, both equally skilled, educated and wealthy will never be equal because the government tells employers (or colleges) to favor one over the other. That's not equal, that's discrimination! [/rant]
Finally, there is no such thing as "reverse discrimination." It's discrimination or it isn't.

Totally off-topic, but that reminds me of a bit from the old John Larroquette show. Daryl Mitchell's character was a fairly militant black man, and was complaining that the NAACP's name was outdated.
Daryl: We're not 'colored people' anymore, we're African-Americans! It should be the National Association for the Advancement of African-Americans!
Chi McBride: NAAAA?

Philly Weekly covers Urban Outfitters. It's basically marketing nostalgia and kitsch to twentysomethings and yuppies.

I think it was in the works though, and if it come out I'm sure you'll hear about it from Zell Miller.

But there is nothing at all wrong with pointing out the hypocricy of those who scream racism at every turn. Why is it ok for black groups to make utterly ridiculous racism accusations, like this game, while I am not allowed to point out things like the NAACP and Affirmative action, and point out how they too are racist?
The KKK? That is racist. Ghettopoly is not. How can a group on one had scream bloody murder about this game, when the rapper/thug mentality that is dominated by blacks embodies the game?
I'll take the cries of racism from these people far more seriously when they admit to, and fight just as hard against, the racsim inherent in their own community.
