Ottawa assistant coach Roger Nielson is going behind the bench as the head man for 2 games so he could reach 1,000 games as a head coach.
Now I know that the flyers totally screwed him a while back (he was coach, had to leave because he had cancer and then Flyers started winning and he came back without a job). But having a sympothy 2 games to reach a thousand really a legit way of doing it?
Your opinions on this, in the media it's pretty one sided and saying this is great but do feel it takes away from the milestone achivement?
maybe he can prevent them from losing in the 1st round again.
Marge: Mr. Scorpio, this house is almost too good for us. I keep expecting to get the bums rush. Scorpio: We don't have bums in our town, Marge, and if we did, they wouldn't rush, they'd be allowed to go at their own pace.
If Roger Neilson had WON 1,000 games than he wouldn't need a two game stunt/stint behind the bench - after last night he had COACHED 999 games - when the season finishes he will be only the 9th man to COACH 1,000 games
I have no problem with it at all - he has been an assistant coach for the Sens this year and I think the Sens are showing some class in letting him get to his milestone - he would have been there already if it wasn't for Messier's non-endorsement in NY (watch out Ron Low) and Booby Clarke's spineless maneuverings
now back to that non-endorsement, it did open the door for Mike Keenan and that great night of June 13, 1994

Well, let's just examine the Canadian teams...then the big guns: Toronto Maple Leafs Lost Curtis Joseph, gained Ed Belfour. Quality of goaltending arguably goes down, age goes up, the rest of the team stays the same.
