EDIT: Still trying around every five minutes or so, but no joy. I want Firefox 3 NOW. (I guess I can live with this beta for a FEW hours. ;-) )

This is a good thing.

I already have Firefox. What are we all downloading it for? Is it just so they can set a record or is there also a newer version I should be using?
Also, if they want some publiciity, why doesn't Firefox just give out a million dollars a week? People love that! They don't complain about it or nitpick the contest details at all! (Maybe this biting sarcasm should go in that other thread.)

I finally got through, clicked on the "Download FireFox 3" image, and it immediately took me to the old FireFox 2 page - which then registered a "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable" when I tried to download FF2.
I have a feeling they may have gotten more than they bargained for.

version 3.0 is officially released. I'd get you a list of improvements, but the site being down kinda hurts that. LifeHacker's top 10 will work instead.
I was looking for some place this morning to see if my extensions will work - I'd wait longer rather than giving up FireFTP or certain code removal software - but of course good luck like this.
You know, when you ask everyone to go to your website, your website ought to work. It kinda makes you look dumb when it goes lile this.

There's still a few bugs - like crappy bookmark stability, for example - that are present in all the betas (I'm using RC2 right now). I'm hoping those have been settled.

Kinda makes me wonder why they don't have any mirrors set up for this.
The email Firefox sent me has a link to download the RC3 build of Firefox 3. Not exactly what I wanted, thanks anyways. At least the link is up here.
Keeping in mind the deadline tomorrow, will he link still be available at the top of THE-W's index page until then? I'm gonna stop trying to download it (I'm just getting CONNECTION RESET errors anyhow) until after midnight tonight or sometime else.
Oh, and one thing I noticed:
I clicked the FIREFOX 3 logo in the download page that was linked to the email they sent...and it downloaded Firefox 2 to my computer.

I also prefer the original GUI, but I'm sure there's an add-on for that.

The MOuse Gestures add on I was using doesn't work with this version. It seems so foreign to me to actually click the back button.

Urgh. I agree, that double-lined autocomplete window needs to GO. I much preferred just going through single lines of URLs. Please let me know once someone unveils a way to roll THAT change back. Other than that I'm liking what I'm seeing.
EDIT: Never mind, I found it myself.
Seth Spitzer's oldbar extension (addons.mozilla.org)
The beautiful thing is that it only changes the display; you can still search in autocomplete by title if you want.
Originally posted by Mr. Boffo The add-ons I had that (1) weren't compatible with 3.0 and (2) hadn't released an updated version were Ad-Block and FasterFox. FireFTP, BugMeNot, and IE-Tab all worked fine or updated.
Ad-Block (0.7.5.4) told me it wasn't compatible initially, but after I restarted it after the initial load it worked fine. BugMeNot wouldn't upgrade automatically for me - had to go from 1.3 to 2.0 manually. I don't use any of the other extensions you mentioned.
