News - Many Germans Want Berlin Wall Back Say what you will about red states versus blue states, but things could always be worse. It's unfortunate, though, that things in Germany have gotten so bad that they've actually reflected on this thought. "What do you MEAN Snitsky-mania is dead???" Promote this thread!

AIM: # 2 Posted on 28.3.05 1149.18 | Instant Rating: 4.94 I have a couple problems with this. 2,000 people were surveyed in a country of 83 MILLION ( http://www.nationbynation.com/Germany/Population.html). Is that REALLY a high enough number of people to assume that most of the country wants the wall back? Secondly, only 12% want the wall back in the east- that means 88% DON'T, right? I guess the headline wouldn't be as sexy if they focused on that side. Personally, I don't consider 12% (or 25% really, for that matter) to be "many." College, Sports and More!: Experience It

This is hardly "Germans want the Berlin Wall back". I bet you could get similiar numbers in the US about the Confederacy, prohibition, and Women's suffrage. Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

As the Man Show demonstrated, you could probably find higher percentages of Americans who don't know what suffrage _is_. We've also got to remember that Germany as a united country doesn't even have a history half that of the US. I can only imagine the level of frustration that has risen in West Germany since reunification. I am surprosed numbers aren't higher. Guru is correct that the numbers are low. Perception is reality
Having read Sam Dealey's article, I suppose it's possible that Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is right and the U.S. State Dept is wrong. I imagine it's possible that she's right and the U.S. intelligence and diplomatic community is wrong.
