WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Jeff Hardy vs. (c) Bobby Roode This is an interesting match up more so to see how far TNA has come and if their decision making has improved at all. They are telling a redemption story with Hardy that I’m not buying into. The fans sure are though as even the comatose fans at the Impact Zone go nuts for him and he gets a huge superstar reaction. The booking of Roode over the last month has not been very strong as they’ve lost their way somewhere along the way. I would guess the last ppv is where he lost a ton of momentum. The set up for this match hasn’t been too strong as it’s more of a side feud away from the Sting-Roode feud that’s been booked as a bigger deal. I would not be shocked to see Hardy win the title and have him have his moment and just move Roode along to a feud with Sting with Roode looking for revenge after Sting thwarts outside interference in the Hardy-Roode match. I’m not sure where they’d go with Hardy as champ as TNA has better face challengers than heels. There’s no question the best move is for Roode to win and hold onto the title until Lock down where he drops the title to Storm. I’ll show blind faith and say that’s what tptb plan is and say Roode retains the title thanks to Bully Ray who costs Hardy the match and enters into a feud with him.
Kurt Angle VS. “Cowboy” James Storm This feud has lost a ton of momentum thanks to Angle’s lame comedy in the bar where he beat down Storm’s friends. Storm has been lost in the shuffle lately after looking like a massive breakout star. I think this should be a really good match and I’m hoping this match will be more of a brawl than last month which was a technical match which made no sense because this is supposed to be a blood feud. I’ll say Angle wins this one by nefarious means to keep Storm occupied for another month or two before moving on to Roode.
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Samoa Joe & Magnus vs. Matt Morgan and Crimson (c) In just a few weeks of teaming up Joe and Magnus have shown more chemistry and is more over than Morgan and Crimson but TNA is behind Crimson and Morgan as a team mostly because they have no idea what to do with them and are higher on them than Joe and Magnus. This could be an okay match and I’d better it will be much better than Morgan and Crimson’s match Vs Devon and The Pope. I’ll go with Crimson and Morgan to win this one.
X DIVISION TITLE MATCH Austin Aries (c) vs Kid Kash vs Jesse Sorensen vs Zema Ion This should be a really good match and maybe even a show stealer, but will likely be hurt by a dead crowd much like Aries’ match with Kid Kash was last month. I’m tired of multi man X division matches and wish they’d just go with a one on one match. This match has three heels in it with the bland Sorensen as the underdog baby face that no one cares about. I’m pretty sure that Aries will hold onto the title and hopefully go on to feud with Shelley. I would hope Zema still gets airtime and I could see him feuding with Sorensen after they had issues on Impact.
“The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero VS. Devon Didn’t care about this feud in 2011 and don’t care about it in 2012. I predict Pope wins thanks to Devon’s kids.
KNOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH Gail Kim (c) vs Mickie James They had a tremendous match up on Impact last week and if given time could have a really strong match on Sunday. I see Gail winning thanks to Madison Rayne and likely moving on to a feud with Velvet which would lead to pretty crappy match. I much prefer to see Gail move on to a feud with Tara which would lead to some awesome matches. I suspect Mickie will move on to feud with Madison yet again.
MONSTER’S BALL MATCH Bully Ray vs. Abyss Ray deserves much better than feuding with and trying to get over and prop up a stale act like Abyss. This could be a solid enough hardcore match but I’m sort of sick of the hardcore match template. If Abyss loses he must join Immortal who he just left, so I’d bet he’ll win this win. I expect Steiner to get involved in this one. I’m not real interested in another Abyss push which might lead to a title shot.
Gunner vs. Rob Van Dam Talk about a match I have no interest in. You have a bland Gunner vs an old, out of shape, slow, unmotivated, lazy RVD. This rematch was booked at the end of Impact and with RVD likely on the way out. It’s possible Gunner takes him out like he took out Neal and Williams or you could have Garrett Bischoff interfere and help RVD beat Gunner which is the outcome I’d bet on. I say if RVD is on the way out have Roode take him out on Impact to give him some heat going forward.
Roode. If there's ever a reason not to put a title on a WWE-certified star, they have it.
Angle. Not that they don't have reason to not push him, too, but at least it's not for the title.
Morgan & Crimson. They don't seem to want to do anything good with Joe at all.
Sorensen. If he's more or less the only face in the division, putting the title on him gives them more options.
Pope. Although he'd pretty much have to strike Devon dead with one touch to gain anything from this feud at this point.
Gail. They've been making her strong and I think they'll keep her that way.
Abyss. Abyss being forced to rejoin Immortal sounds like the kind of dumbass storyline they'd do. Try to look surprised when he turns out to have been on Immortal's side all along even though that makes no sense. (Well, I'm assuming it makes no sense. It's not like I've been watching.)
Gunner. Like others, going on the assumption that RVD is heading back to WWE.
Roode - They learned their lesson with Hardy. He's big, but he's not "their guy."
Angle - Angle can beat up an entire town.
Morgan & Crimson - Yeah, like Samoa Joe's going to win a match.
Aries - The Aries experiment is still going? Ugh. I am sure he is awesome and all, but this division needs more spark. Hopefully next month Aries defeats Captain Football in a casketmatch to end the feud over who the best football player in professional wrestling is.
Pope - Pope. Pope? Pope! Pope could win a match here!
Kim - She will win here. That's not no make believe. I've opened my eyes and seen what the future will be. Too much wasted time until Zack's Dad's paramour debuts.
Bully Ray - Bully Ray needs to win here, or he loses his superstar shine. Beating Abyss means you belong in the mainevent. Losing to Abyss means your future is in being a fitness guru, exploring a future in UK Football, or hanging around Devon's sons.
RVD - Expect the inevitable. A win for Gunner would help rebuild some of his credibility, though it wouldn't restore him to pre-Garrett levels. Probably the worst thing for everyone's credibility would be for RVD to get the win after a run-in by Garrett. Has Morgan addressed how he feels about Bischoff's son screwing him 14 months ago? I would feel much better about both characters if they addressed that.
Robbie E wins an unannounced TV title match against some guy he was feuding with on Xplosion or something. That always works.
A great exhibit in how well WWE could operate if they didn't employ writers, because that second hour was the laziest writing they've ever done, yet somehow turned out some perfectly fine wrestling, while the first hour contained some of the biggest dares...
