Quick fight that was dominated by Gatti. 2:55 of round 2.

I was keeping a log of the fight but it's essentially worthless since it says something like "Early in the fight, Gatti is dominating Dorin by virtue of his size and reach advantage. As I’m typing this, Gatti knocks him out with a left hook to the body that just folded Dorin over."

Impressive performance and power by Gatti. A really devastating loss for Dorin.

I thought Dorin would put up a little more of a fight, but Gatti just beat him up. The opening fight wasnt too bad either.

That was a one-in-a-million body shot by Gatti. It looked like it was going to be a long fight where Gatti would've eventually taken more than the necessary punishment (as per his usual). I was waiting for Lamps to reference Micky Ward (with regard to the body shot, Ward beat Shea Neary with almost the exact same shot), but alas he did not.

Bojado should take note: THAT happens when you throw combinations. His performance against Leija was rather pathetic given his youth AND power advantage. I think he expected Leija to shrivel up instead of come back so strong. The fight shouldn't have been close, Bojado's trainer issues notwithstanding.

There has been some good stuff the last couple of weeks, ESPECIALLY Juan Diaz' MAN-STYLED beating of Lakva Sim last week. I couldn't get over how mcuh bigger Sim looked even though they were in the same weight class, and Diaz brought it the whole night.

I am STOKED for Freitas-Corrales August 7, as well.

Yeah, that's going to be a hell of a matchup. My call - Corrales has to keep patient and keep from getting caught with a patented one-counterpunch knockout by Freitas. If he can do that, I think he's got it.

Tszyu-Mitchell is on for Nov 6th - if it actually comes off that's the fight I'm most stoked for.

And Juan Diaz impressed the hell out of me. I definitely think he's ready for the big time. Showtime definitely got the best of the Olympic class (although I still think Juarez and that other guy are not all that). I can't believe HBO has stuck with that bust Bojado this long. A 2-loss young prospect is no longer a young prospect.

I think if Tszyu gets by Mitchell he'd be an idiot not to make a big payday against Gatti and retire - unless he's actually thinking he's got enough left to fight Mayweather or move up to 147 - 2 other moves that could earn him some bucks. Gatti should keep ducking Mayweather and either fight Spadafora (who he'd kill, IMO) and keep moving up gradually, or take the payday and the chance against Tszyu. If he can actually beat him, he'd be positioned to make a killing against Mayweather.

I wonder how much money George W. Bush gave Paris Hilton.

Are you thinking of Jeff Lacy? I'd like to see him fight someone decent.

I think Gatti actually has a decent chance against Mayweather. Can Floyd actually hurt Gatti? I doubt it. The real issue is can Gatti hit Floyd? I think Floyd believes he'd beat Gatti easily, making him likely to stand and trade more than if he were concerned about Gatti, and I really think Gatti can damage Floyd. If this fight happened at 130 four years ago Gatti would've had no chance, but now at 140 I think he has a good one.

Corrales-Freitas should be quite good. If Freitas is right in the head, and I don't think he's been the last couple of fights with his marriage/divorce/father issues, I think he beats Corrales much like Floyd did.

And while Tszyu-Mitchell is indeed a tasty morsel to look forward to, can we just go ahead and call Sept. 18 one of the possible GREATEST DAYS IN THE HISTORY OF LIFE? My day will be looking like this, if the ABC College Football TV schedule is to be believed:

noon - Oregon at Oklahoma (Ducks get killed...b-e-a-yootiful)
4:00 - UCLA at Washington (Husky LOVE...hopefully they are not worse than we all think)

Mmm, mmm, good.

Have you seen this website: I stumbled across it looking up Lacy's record. It's like Maxboxing only better organized. Some of their rankings are quite interesting, like at 140 they have (1) Floyd, (2) Hatton, (3) Mitchell, (4) Miguel Cotto, (5) Vivian Harris, (6) Gatti, (7) Spadafora. I assume they all would go down a notch if Tsyzu had fought lately, but Gatti BELOW Hatton, Cotto, and Harris?

Also, their heavyweight rankings make me sad. Baby Joe Mesi at #2 is just silly, undefeated or not, but the rest of the list makes me long for 1988.
