Due to a freak accident less than 12 hours before she leaves for a conference, my fiance's less than 3-month old Gateway (Model NV5207U) Laptop's screen has entirely shattered (purchased by me from TigerDirect as her birthday gift). The computer works fine when attached to an external monitor, but the screen is more than slightly cracked - it is completely unreadable.
I found two replacement screens on eBay for under $100:
(GeekSquad gave me an unofficial cost quote of "equal to or greater than what you paid for the laptop"). Luckily, we have her old laptop, which still mostly works, for her to take with her.
Anyway, it looks like this isn't too tough to swap out, but I wanted to check in with other folks to make sure I'm not overlooking something. Given my state of mind at the moment, I'll probably sleep on it before spending the money.
And any calm inducing, friendly advice would also be appreciated. I'm pretty pissed at myself at the moment - the lack of profanities in this post is quite remarkable.
Guru Zim sounds right on the money, I think. Check where your incoming mail is being sent from, that'll probably solve your mystery. Wouldn't hurt to have someone in your time zone fire you off a test email to check, either, if that's not inconvenient....
