I had the same fucking guide. I took it back to the store and bitched until they gave me my money back. EVERY piece of information in that guide was on playonline.com FOR FREE. They didn't just have extras there, it was the entire fucking guide reprinted.

I also never finished Majora's Mask. I felt like a slacker, but I guess I'm not the only one. I think I got to the Zora part and said fuck it.

There was this old Colecovision game called (I think) Tutankhamen's Tomb, and that game was HARD AS FUCK. But well worth playing. Try to find a ROM. It's still one of most addictive games ever.

That's right, it did, I had forgotten that, again, it's been so long since I've even seen or thought about that game.

Track and Field was rather easy for me. I've always been good at numbers and the such so all you had to do was count at the right speed 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, JUMP, pause, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, JUMP, pause, (REPEAT), or, like in music use a mini phrase, which is a set of 8 beats in succession, but pause on the last beat.

Way back when in Sonic 3, my friends and I were stuck at this one point in Carnival Night Zone, Act 2 for months, a spot we nicknamed "the trap". Turns out all we had to do was move the striped platform up and down, then jump underneath it at the right moment.

In the first Suikoden, I did everything possible to ensure that I got the good ending, just to find out that I had to keep Pahn alive during the duel with Teo, and I didn't find out about that until well afterwards.

I broke a Saturn controller fighting Dimitri in Night Warriors: Dark Stalkers 2. Damned good game, though.

Just flying around the world map in Skies of Arcadia was frustrating thanks to the random encounter rate, a problem that couldn't be solved until well after the Yafutoma quests.

Smackdown! 2's gameplay and design flaws still piss me off. (I must be the only one here without a PS2 and SYM.)

Some of the last few tracks in Wipeout XL were nearly impossible to place well in.

Finding the white SeeD ship in FFVIII took me about an hour too long. So did killing the aliens onboard the Ragnarok (had to consult a FAQ for that one.)

Playing against human opponents with waaay too much practice in nearly any FPS is frustrating.

I have never beaten Super Mario Brothers. Trustme, I've tried. Also, Zelda 2.

I beat all of the other games that I played in these series, but for some reason those two screwed me. As far as SMB, it's 8-2... I've tried many many times over the past 15 years and I've only completed this level a few times. I've gotten to the final castle TWICE and never reached Bowser...

In Zelda 2 it's the part where you have to walk through that brown poison swamp or lava or whatever the hell it is in the southwest corner of the map. I just can't get past the red alligator faced guards under the fortresses that pop up at certain spots along the path. Ever.

I agree with Kid Icarus... that's some hard crap, and I never got past the second level. Battletoads, damn hard.

RPGs keep my interest better and (though I had help from GameFAQs), I had fun beating Majora's Maskand FFVII & FFVIII, though I got caught up in the card quest in IX and just got bored and left it.

River City Ransom is the bomb. Sweat the techniques... buy the books. Check out gamefaqs for a list of what the items do (I had one from Nintendo Power ages ago, but that's gone of course). The ending is worth it in this game.

Grand Theft Auto 3: The vehicle missions where you have to hit all the check points on the beach and in the parks. I played the PC version, so there was no bug to cheat me past these... I did EVERYTHING else and got up to 98% or so, but I can't beat those three missions.

Despite all of those frustrations, I STILL play these games whenever I can (ie, not while I'm working on Metroid Prime and Ocarina of Time).

Man I can't believe I forgot about it till now. That dmaned piece of shit excuse for a wrestling game 'RAW' that they brought out on the Xbox.

I'm all for making games challenging but when you try and win the WWE title on the 'hard' setting its not uncommon for your opponent to perfectly counter about 10 throws in a row.

Do you know what the odds are on that? Well neither do I cos I dont have a calculator but if you can figure out what 15 to the power 10 is, its one in that many, and I'm pretty sure thats long odds.

If ever a game has threatened to have the Xbox thrown out my 3rd story window this is it.

It was hard, but it didn't qualify for me for this thread, because I didn't keep playing it.

I should say though, it let me create my favorite CAW ever, Cletus Jefferson. Cletus was a tiny black man whose only offense was nut punches. He came out to Shane's music to an all-green arena and had D-von Dudley's entrance. He also wore a cowboy hat and 3-piece suit.

I guess I kinda stuck with it simply cos there aint any better wrestling games out there. Having said that the fat lad and his duaghter in Dead or Alive 3 are fun and the funky black fella does the stunner. Keep wishing he would flip the bird after it though. Ah well.

On the subject of CAW's, if you stick with Shanes music and have the Jeff Hardy entrance, and Bang Bang pyro it all comes together looking quite snazzy. Still an unmitigated pile of shit as far as gameplay goes though. Almost at the stage of giving in and getting a PS2 just for SD:SYM. Those things are cheap as chips these days.

And now, a Tiger Woods 2003 story:

One of the "scenarios" you have to beat in TW2003 is a level where you play 9 par-3 holes in a row. To get the gold medal you need a score of *18*, meaning 9 birdies in a row or getting a hole-in-one to create some buffer space. The only good thing about going for the gold was that I could restart if I didn't birdie one of the first few holes.

After probably 20 times of trying to get through with all birdies I managed to birdie the first 8 holes and had an 8-foot birdie putt on the last hole to beat the level. The fucking putt lipped out...FUCK!!

A few tries later and I ace the 2nd hole. Then I ace the 3rd hole...FUCKING AWESOME!! I've got two pars to play with and I can beat the level. After I use the first one I'm still good to go until I fucking three-putt and lose the whole thing. GODDAMMIT!!

A while later I've got 18 after 8 holes and decide to play the 9th anyway to earn the bonus money for the silver medal...naturally I aced the fucking thing for a 19. PIECE OF SHIT!!

I think it took me 50 tries to beat the level, which I finally did with a hole-in-one, 7 birdies and a par.

Now I can move on to the next totally frustrating level.

The following post expresses the opinions of a raving Jerichoholic. He is biased, opinionated and bitter. You have been warned.

I have never beaten any Super Mario Brothers game for the NES, and I haven't fully beaten Super Mario World on the SNES or Super Mario 64. I just got Super Mario Sunshine a week or so ago, but I think it'll be in the category of "beaten but just barely." I love what they did with the old music. Is that all a cappella in the no-backpack levels?

Also, the Sonic The Hedgehog series on the Genesis is just mean. I beat Sonic 2 twice, but I've never even come close on the other two. I gave up when my Genesis died and haven't bothered to pick one up since.

The Sonic series wasn't THAT difficult, just takes a little practice. However, to this day I still haven't been able to beat Sonic & Knuckles Doomsday Zone...

I see someone mentioned Golgo 13. I'd always get to just past the water level. Either I'd get lost in the maze, or I'd get to this one base way underwater where lasers would shoot at me and kill me. Very annoying.

EDIT: Speaking of Mario games, the only one I ever beat was Super Mario World. I did quite well at that, although I never got the complete score. What was it, 96 or something? I was one short. It was this level where I had to hit a coin block so that a group of flying coins came out, then I had to control the coins just right so that they lined up with this ledge, then I had to hit a switch so the coins turned to blocks, then run over all the coins and slide under the one space wide opening to get to the key. As I said, I never actually got that one.

Final fantasy VII...

Worst...ending...ever. Yet, I recently bought it again and I even bought the user guide. The ending was such a waste, but I'm playing it again. Go fig.

First post in a long long time.....

Is about my XBOX go figure. hahahaha.

Raw wasn't really frustrating... i just found the game slow and the moves..... slow. By the time my wrestler started a move the computer had already done something else. I love the quicker games.... a.k.a. the smackdown series.

Frustrating but addicting- Splinter Cell. I love the game but it starts off hard and never stops. But i still play.

I wouldn't say WORST EVER...more like MOST DISAPPOINTING EVER...considering how awesome the storyline and build-up that game had.

Here's a few more for me

anyone remember Deadly Towers for NES?...if you do, hats off to you. It was a knock off of Zelda, only the little guy *snort* "shoots" his swords at the little monsters. That game was the quintessential pain in the ass...I was only 7 when I played it the first time, and I hunted down a copy last year to see if it really was as hard as I thought it was back then...it was.

No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 both had their share of controller breaking, Tourette syndrome induced, break everything breakable in sight fits of rage on season mode. If you played on normal, almost every other move you do is reversed by the computer.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors was another ass pain. Exactly how many levels did that damned game have? I got to 40 before I stopped caring.

Attempt throw, CPU counters, attempt throw, CPU counters , attempt throw CPU counters, ........ and so on until finally, FINALLY you hit finisher and then........ CPU no fucking sells it.

The start of the Chinese embassy level I must have spent about 5 hours looking for that damned manhole. And don't even get me started on the special forces dudes on the last level.....

I beat Super Mario Bros. I on NES ONCE at 4 am.

Then started immediately again on the new levels and got ONE SCREEN AWAY from doing it again...

Street Fighter 2: I got wasted by Vega time and again before finally beating him - and then getting crushed by Bison. (Beat him eventually, though.)

Street Fighter Alpha 2: I can beat Juni and Juli just fine - but almost always get mashed by Bison.

Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories pissed me off a lot until I figured out how to fuse cards.

DDR Max pisses me off too, but I keep playing for the songs.

And just about every other game I've played I get pissed at sometime during playing it. I'll yell, scream, swear, and stare at the TV screen angerly untill my sisters walk past me and look at me strangely.

Much like his nameless GTA3 predecessor, Tommy Vercetti has a strange aversion to locking his vehicle's doors. Maybe it's some sort of mystical tradeoff for the ability to stand right next to an exploding car and survive.

Which he also pays for by not being able to swim, or getting hurt running down steps and off curbs.

BTW, has anybody gotten all the shines in Mario Sunshine?
I beat the game w/ 82 and was only missing 2 from completing levels, and tried going back to get some of the 38 secret ones I'm missing - only to be reduced to tears. It's been moved to the 'games that make you angry, so you quit and wait for Zelda in the mail' category...

I'm surprised I haven't seen more talk about San Andreas on here lately. About two weeks ago, GameSpot and IGN released features on the game. It appears they got the info for their features from the same meeting with game execs.
