Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Patriots deny spying on Rams before SB XXXVI (sportsillustrated.cnn.com)

A member of the New England Patriots' video staff taped the St. Louis Rams' last walkthrough before the 2002 Super Bowl, a Boston newspaper reported Saturday.

The NFL, however, said it was satisfied this was not another Spygate.

"We were aware of the rumor months ago and looked into it. There was no evidence of it on the tapes or in the notes produced by the Patriots, and the Patriots told us it was not true," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told The Associated Press.

    ...

"The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue," Patriots spokesman Stacey James told the AP.

Rams spokesman Rick Smith, reading a statement from team president John Shaw, said, "At this point, we have no comment."

    ...

If the first New England game this year after Spygate broke is any indication, the New York Football Giants aren't just about to get killed; they're about to be mercilessly slaughtered in the most disgustingly violent way possible. God help them.

...

...

Oh, wait. I forgot for a second; I want the Giants to lose.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

This is yet another reason why this game needed to be played last weekend instead of this weekend. Now, the Giants have had 2 weeks to make predictions, Brady has had time to heal, and now the media is throwing raw meat in front of a bloodthirsty Patriot team. I'll still go 23-21 Giants, but I'm really scared this is going to be Broncos/49ers epic destruction territory of catching the wrong team on the wrong day.

Mike Walsh doesn't totally sound on the up and up to me here. If he were truely a conflicted man why didn't he come out sooner? It's funny how all this shit is stirring up now rather than in week 9, 10 or anytime until now.

I completely agreew with redsoxnation. Tonight is going to be one of them games that more resembles a violet car accident. As much as I'd like to see the Giants just so I don't have to hear about the Patriots and how good they are (nevermind the fact that it is pretty true) for the next 30 years.

What's this? Giants win?

And, I, for one, couldn't possibly be happier to see you eat your words. Sorry they aren't as tasty as a steak, but you know what they say...

"Cheaters never win and winners never cheat."

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! No perfect season. No best team ever. No greatest dynasty. Just a colossal choke job and karma sticking its boot up Belichick's ass. Sorry.

Greatest Super Bowl Ever. Gawd, Monday morning is gonna be bright.

I'd like to join the chorus. The Pats have no where to go but DOWN. I'm gonna love the SB thread. :D

While I share your happiness in the Giants winning (my heart is STILL racing), I'm not sure I will echo your sentiments. How old are we now?

Having said that, which is worse: that sore loser Belichick refusing to play the end of the game or the stupid refs for forcing it to happen, thus creating the most anticlimactic end POSSIBLE for the biggest upset in Super Bowl history?

You do realize you're posting this on a wrestling board, right? You know, where the philosophy usually is, "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat"? Just checking. ;)

To be fair to Walsh I dare say he's just jumping on Specter's bandwagon as far as the timing goes. Specter's timing on the other hand was clearly motivated by wanting to embarrass Goodell for having the audacity not to respond to his letter sooner.

Should be interesting to see who comes out of it all looking worse out of Specter and Goodell. So far I'd call it even, but assuming there's no 'smoking gun' evidence of a cover up, Specter seems just about crazy enough to shade it over the long run.
