Holy crap! Epic Episode 9 lives up to the hype. Giants with giant bows shooting giant arrows riding giant mammoths! 4 inches of rolled steel, huh?
That last part with the swinging hook on the wall was so awesome! Samwell tells the little orphan boy to pick up a weapon and fight and he kills Ygritte!!! The Night's Watch survives the night but won't fend off the Wildlings so Jon Snow is off on his own to find and hopefully kill Mance.
It was great. They are getting very good with these big battle scenes. I was liked Ygritte in the books, but she really was starting to annoy me in this episode. That kid must have leveled up to a 5th Level Ranger by killing her and getting those experience points, because she was on fire with her bow last night. No luck with the Stark men with women, at least he did better than Rob.
The finale has to be three hours longs to get through the rest of book 3.
I wasn't a huge fan of the happenings at The Wall and Castle Black until Jon Snow returned from his infiltration mission and we started gearing up for this huge battle. I've been anxiously waiting for it all season. It didn't disappoint.
Sad for Jon that Ygritte is gone, but at least no more catchphrase.
Ah, so much going on next week!
ETA: Almost forgot...that super-long, single-take panoramic shot of Castle Black mid-battle was amazing.
