Pretty good show. Most definitely the best Great American Bash since WWE has owned the PPV.

The story telling in the HBK/Y2J continues to be incredible. I fear that HBK was really hurt though. Just when you thought HBK couldn't bleed anymore! Jericho better watch out. Summerslam is HBK's turn (if HBK isn't too hurt).

JBL over Cena. I'm happy Cena lost, yet not happy JBL won. I guess I didn't really care too much overall. Maybe starting this match earlier in the show would have helped. How many licks does it take to get Cena to bleed?

I'll save the rest of the card for somebody else (aka more sober than me). The HBK/Y2J made the show for me. Enough to rate the show at least 3 out of 5.

Well, I went to the local establishment, the PPV feed didn't come in until half way through the HBK/Jericho match so a couple of these results are news to me. Also I didn't get blown out of my mind like Guinness.

Results from WWE.com

-WWE Champion Triple H def. Edge
-JBL def. John Cena in a NYC Parking Lot Brawl

-World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Batista (Double-disqualification) Actually was getting into the styles clash of the match.
-Michelle McCool def. Natalya to win Divas Championship

-ECW Champion Mark Henry def. Tommy Dreamer
-Chris Jericho def. Shawn Michaels

-Shelton Benjamin def. Matt Hardy (new United States Champion)
-Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder win Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match (new WWE Tag Team Champions)

This show took a harsh u-turn for the worse with about one minute to go in the World Heavyweight Title match. The match may not have been Nigel McGuinness vs. Tyler Black, but you could've put them in the same conversation. But then, politics reared their ugly head once more. For the life of me, I cannot understand how Batista is still protected here. He has lost about thirty-one straight tries at the title, and yet here we are diving into World Champion Rey Mysterio territory. Also, you can keep your shades because the future doesn't look so bright. Kane will probably defeat Punk by countout at SLAM! BAM! THX M'AM!

Shawn, Chris, Shelton and Matt were their usual awesome selves, but I completely forgot about that by the end.

I think it's pretty obvious that they're building to big Punk win as a way of paying off the "he's not won the big one yet" angle. It's a pretty risky way to make a new star, but I don't think they're just gonna repeatedly bury him and yank the title off of him when they're done.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Hmm. I wonder if with the inclusion of Kane, JBL's big win over Cena, Jericho's big win over HBK, and the return of either Orton or Mysterio that the big six-man Elimination Chamber might be making its return at SummerSlam as Punk's coming out party?

Very thumbs in the middle show. The opening tag match had a lot of energy, and was pretty much what an opener should be. I liked Ryder & Hawkins getting the belts too. I'm not sure why Matt vs. Shelton was thrown out so later, other than someone getting the last-minute idea to put the belt on Shelton. Match was fine and had some good near-falls at the end.

Henry vs. Dreamer wasn't as bad as it could have been, but I don't get the Colin turn. Nobody cared about him as a face, so why turn him now? Jericho vs. Michaels was awesome, especially once the angle of HBK bleeding kicked in. I was disappointed in the Michelle vs. Natalya match, though it didn't get a lot of time.

Punk vs. Batista was better than I thought; I was anticipating a clash in styles, but they worked well together. Punk's kicks looked especially good in this match. JBL vs. Cena was a clustermess that made little sense, but at least this is the only match (and feud) like this right now. Triple H over Edge was expected, and who was Edge going to spear at the end when he hit Vickie? The only ones that were in the way and moved were the ref and Alicia, and him going to spear one of them didn't make a whole lot of sense. Just kind of odd.

Oh. I forgot about how much I like the Colin turn. It's funny how turning a kid heel always makes them way better.

Long live the Oreo Single Stuf Stable, or OSSS for short.

I hate this so bad. Morrison and Miz are a great charismatic team, the best heel tag team to come along since, well, MNM. Ryder and Hawkins are generic losers who look like Edge and stooge for Undertaker. Plus, M&M have this eight month long title reign and it comes to an end when the Edgeheads pin Jesse in a four-way? Boo. We don't have dumb title switches in the Palace of Wisdom.

I doubt it, 'cause they just had two in February. I can't believe there's going to be a fourth Cena/JBL match. Cena has done way too many jobs since coming back. And he's failed in pretty much every big match he's been in since the Rumble. I don't get it. His surprise return at the Rumble was amazing and should've led to a huge comeback story. Instead he stupidly gave up his Mania title shot and failed to win, then he lost to Orton and HHH three times, clean losses each time. Now he's losing to JBL?

Justin: a GREAT MAN.

The whole Cena comeback has looked like a big waste of time for him.

I agree. Miz and Morrison were on the verge of that almost Main Event Tag Team that could legitimately team up with a big name in a six man tag, or they could have even Main Event a show facing one of those main event teams that don't get along. They also gave ECW some credible champions that were worthy of tuning in to check out a good tag title defense.

The belts on the Edgeheads is just a cheesey prop, and is right up there with the Bashams holding the tag titles (I think they did) while in JBL's Cabinet. Nobody cared then either.

I'm not so sure. With what's happened the last few weeks between Edge and the Edgeheads, I can potentially see this turning into a VERY entertaining "we have belts and you don't, I wonder why that is" plotline between La Familia. He kept calling THEM worthless, but now who's titleless?
