I hadn't heard anything, no, but it looks interesting. Reminds me more of X-Com than Final Fantasy Tactics, but the setting could be what's throwing me off. The "targetting system" looks a bit iffy (like you actually have to manually target shots ala something like Worms) and the closer you get to being right the more damage you do. That's something that I wouldn't personally go in for, but I don't know how your wife feels about such things.
It does look like a cross of X-com and FFT because of this quote:
"Really leave your mark on a deformable terrain that changes as you destroy it. Blast holes in the wall, make craters out of meadows and send boulders flying like toys. Make a mess! No one will be around to clean it up."
That's what I loved about X-Com (And Freedom Force)
EB is advertising it for $15 for the PS2. I WILL get this. If it's ANYTHING like FFT, I will love it. I've beaten FFT 7 times now, and it never gets boring (I keep Ramza 1 class all the way through the game each time. Next game will be Ninja)
If you're looking for something similar to FFT, then it's all about Disgaea, baby. Similar gameplay to FFT, except Disgaea's much deeper and has several extra tactical flourishes. It's also got a funny little storyline that doesn't involve killing Jesus!
"I am the past, present and future of professional wrestling, and all of you player hating sons of bitches wanna be me, and all your girls wanna see me, and when your kids meet me, I greet thee with a smile, 'cause I go the extra mile" - TEDDY HART
Except that I can NEVER, EVER pull off a finishing move in either Revenge or 2000 (same engine.) Instructions say once your attitude meter flashes "special," all ya gotta do is get the guy in a strong grapple (A button, right?)
