I wonder if that strange small area where it's like 25 degrees cooler than everything else is just a glitch, or something more sinister and spooky. I guess when it updates in appx. 20 minutes I'll....have a new picture to look at.

I once actually experienced something like this in the opposite direction...hot instead of cold.
5am, driving through Omaha, and the temperature went from the 60's to over 100 for maybe an hour, then dropped back.
The apparent technical term (according to 1110 KFAB...Nebraska's SUPERSTATION!): "Hot Flash". It was caused by precipitation hitting hot air and forcing it to the ground in the process. The precipitation evaporated in the hot air, so it didn't rain. It was apparently localized to the Omaha area.
It was easily the weirdest oddball weather experience I've ever had.

From the two day history at http://www.crh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/KOEO.html, you can kinda see where it all goes kerplunk:
4/21 1255 59 4/21 1315 61 4/21 1355 61 4/21 1415 63 4/21 1435 64 4/21 1455 -17 4/21 1515 -31 4/21 1535 -36 4/21 1555 -36
There's a fresh Weather Channel map, too:

This is MUCH more fun than work!

Like Spearfish, South Dakota:
Spearfish holds the world record for the fastest temperature change, which ocurred on January 23, 1943. On that day, the weather station recorded a jump from -4F(-20C) to 45F(7C) in two minutes. An hour and a half later, the same weather station measured a decrease from 54F(12C) to -4F(-20C) in only 27 minutes (Parker, 1981).
NOTE: The above post makes no sense. We apologize for the inconvenience.
