I've been reading Tim Kurkjian's book "Is this a great game or what?" and I read something I think most sports fans will appreciate.

In the 1979 amateur baseball draft, Don Mattingly was taken in the 19th round. Drafted ahead of him that year?

Dan Marino, John Elway, and Jay Schroeder.

I knew that Elway played minor league ball, I didn't know about the other two, though.

Yeah, it should, but we don't live in Shouldland! Ah, Shouldland, where clean-cut kids cruise Shouldland Boulevard, and the Shouldland High football team gets their optimistic asses kicked by their crosstown rival, Reality Check Tech.

I know the prospects AZ sent over were no slouches, but I find it incredible they pulled that off without having to give up any one of Connor Jackson, Stephen Drew, Chris Young, Chris Snyder, Mark Reynolds, Chad Tracy, or Justin Upton.
