I read a blurb today either in the Post or in McPaper (can't find it online right now) that today is the first time since late April that the Friars are NOT on a pace to lose 100 games.

Meanwhile, Los Tigres continue to chase the 1962 Mets for most losses in a season.

Braving the horror show that is Comicon. We're not set up, but we'll be around all weekend.

Ah, I see....never heard that nickname before. The Pirates are usually called the Bucs, but I've never heard San Diego called anything besides the Pads...or just "bad." (rimshot)

Not only that, but the Pads have yet to clinch a losing season. It became mathematically official for the Tiggers sometime in, what, June?

It's not all bad. There's the feel good story of Old Man Rod Beck is doing an amazing job as Padres closer after a year and a half of not playing. Too bad for the Friars that they only figured it out in mid June...

And Hoffman is coming back next year. So now you need a to score more then 1 run a game and you have a chance, which might be a chore for the Pads. Opps I forgot about the brutal starters LoL

Like Bowa, he's a homegrown Phillie. He's supposedly been in the organization forever, and the owners and executives like him, despite his seeming ineptness to do anything meaningful at the trade deadline.
