DONALD RUMSFELD, SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: And to change that way of living, would strike at the very essence of our country.
And I think all of us have a sense if we imagine the kind of world we would face if the people who bombed the mess hall in Mosul, or the people who did the bombing in Spain, or the people who attacked the United States in New York, shot down the plane over Pennsylvania and attacked the Pentagon, the people who cut off peoples' heads on television to intimidate, to frighten -- indeed the word "terrorized" is just that. Its purpose is to terrorize, to alter behavior, to make people be something other than that which they want to be.
Why would Rumsfeld say that Flight 93 was "shot down" on September 11? Didn't it crash when the occupants tried to overcome the hijackers?
(Some may say that Rumsfeld was stressed from a very bad week and tired from flying halfway around the world. Others could respond that these conditions are ideal for making a meaningful verbal slip.)
If I could fix me up a week of twilight hours we'd sit on the point and watch the sun continually flounder. Bathed in gold we'd plug into some kind of power and connect with those days back before all of this went sour.
If you were watching CNN as I was on the morning of September 11th they spent the first 2 hours or so after the flight went down stating that fighters shot it down before it could do any damage. The story changed soon thereafter however, into a Hollywood-esque "let's roll!" plot. I dunno, probably somewhere in the middle is the truth.
All sorts of weird shit was on TV that morning. I was in DC, and they were reporting the National Mall was on fire, Union Station had been car bombed, the Old Executive Office Building was on fire, other stuff I don't even remember. I agree though, somewhere in the middle of everything is the truth.
I also thought the official Flight 93 story changed in the 9-11 report for the whole "Let's Roll" thing to the Highjackers crashing it early themselves.
Man's most valuable trait is a judicious sense of what not to believe. - Euripides
Um, was it that creepy? I mean, an one shooter says this: This wasn't a "training" video. There we no set up targets, paper or otherwise, suitable for this purpose. There was no real attempt to be accurate.
