Even though I knew they were giving away free Slurpees. I thought they were gonna be full-sized or something. But dascool. I got a refill of my Star Wars cup for $0.98. In Quebec, KFC restaurants were called PFK.
In Ireland, TJ Maxx department stores were called TK Maxx.

Some of that is simply branding. Having worked in the food processing business a long time ago, you make your product and then slap different labels on it, depending on whose order your filling.

In other words, the store is still called 7-11. In Canada, the 11th day of July is represented as 11/7. Hence, The Goon's contention that 7/11 should give away the free slurpees on November 7th in Canada, because that is their 7/11.

I am so glad you posted that. I had this thread open while I was on the phone and kept scanning the paragraph, getting confused, and then being distracted by the person on the other line. My head hurts a lot less now.

In summation, I think we should just go to month/day/year as a North American standard, and also to avoid my frequent work-related headaches. |
