Anybody else got FNC in widescreen on Standard Def.? It works fine on my HD LCD flatscreen TV when in HD but when on got to standard mode it goes to Wide Screen. Do you have to have High Def. to get the wide screen image off now? Is there anyway you can get the widescreen image off the S.D channel? Just curious? More stations gonna do this?

Also when in HD is there a way to get the Text a little smaller? Does FOX think we are all can't read? Is this a way to rip(Subliminal message) Obama?

FNC has gone completely to 16x9 framing, making it a heck of a lot easier to compose shots. Providers are supposed to pass through the letterboxed signal, although some may choose to center cut the HD feed (which would result in cut off graphics and faces, and look like crap.) Look for more and more networks to jump on the "let's ditch 4x3" bandwagon, and more power to them.

The larger text is probably in part to aid TVs in airports, restaurants, et cetera.

Some local news stations who have gone HD are doing this now too. And NBC has done this with their dramas for a few years now.

It makes sense to me that everybody should be heading in this direction.

I still watch on a 4x3 TV, but I'm all for moving to all-widescreen system. The problem is that my cable provider still gives me a lot of stuff in the cut-off format, and I don't see any way to compensate for that without either buying a new TV or paying every month for HD service without actually getting HD. Yuck.

The worst is the World Series Of Poker--every once in a while my cable system will jump to full-screen, which means I can't see the hole cards. Very frustrating.

I didn't see the show but I was linked to http://www.billkuchman.com/2012/05/jason-sudeikis-and-snl-finale-breaking.html , and it's an interesting bit of mostly baseless speculation.
