I got the feeling that Alejandro actually doesn't have powers but just protects his sister who does have powers. Sort of like Simon/River in Serenity/Firefly.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

A lot to digest from the premiere. My quick thoughts:

- I agree with Tenken as far as the Hiro/Kensei dynamic is concerned. Hiro's going to help Kensei achieve his own destiny just like Ando & Kaito helped Hiro achieve his last season. This type of theme is central to a lot of stories in Japanese culture and I doubt Tim Kring is going to blatantly ignore that. And I'd have said that even without the obvious connection between Hiro & Kensei powers-wise.

- I don't think Molly's boogeyman = Kaito's murderer. If I had to guess, there's someone out there who wants the older generation of Heroes dead for entirely selfish reasons that aren't motivated by something like an evil drive for power. Molly's boogeyman is probably going to be either the Big Bad of the season or, more likely, the entire series, especially considering the Sauron-ish monster form they've been presenting him in; Kaito's murderer is going to be the more immediate and direct focus rather than the cursory focus.

My guess for Kaito's murderer? Doctor Who. Remember, Kaito has a connection with the Company that still hasn't been explained, and Doctor Who would have a motive for revenge against anyone associated with the company (and anyone associated with Kaito, like Mama Petrelli, is by periphery also associated with the Company). Doctor Who's old enough to fit in with that older generation, and remember that Kaito's murderer vanished into thin air after performing his task. I know we're starting to see Heroes with duplicate powers, but right now Peter & Doctor Who are the only ones who have been shown to be able to do that. (Assuming, of course, that Doctor Who didn't run into a post-kaboom Sylar with a hankering for BRAINS.)

- I doubt they'll address it, but unless they change their tactics, it's going to be so easy for Mohinder and Bennet to get caught. Here's a tip, Mohinder: Learn to use a goddamn pay phone.

- The only thing I'm really dying to know NOW (and they'll probably wait until episode 8 to reveal it, the bastards) is how the hell Nathan survived the kaboom. (Peter surviving was easy to predict since he survived in the alternate future where he was also the bomb.)

I'll be glad when Mama Petrelli bites it, hopefully next week. She has little to no redeeming aura around her and I would have preferred to see her go before Kaito (though I have no doubts we'll be seeing lots of Evil Kaito in flashbacks as the season progresses, based on what he said to Ando).

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Invisibility does not allow you to fall from great heights and survive.

They really wanted us to think it was Sylar, via body language, height, build, apparent youth, etc., which makes me think it isn't him. But the person also didn't seem to match anyone else's characteristics either, so I'm thinking brand new character.

Or the way I was thinking was:

Fly really high, Peter uses his telekinesis to push his brother (who swore he wouldn't leave him) far away, big boom, get depressed you didn't die with him, grow beard, profit.

Doctor Who's already pulled it off once. Remember him getting shot off the bridge by Bennet? And either way, I didn't see a second indentation in the ground next to Kaito. That means either the murderer has the ability to pass through solid ground (like D.L., but he doesn't fit the murderer's MO) or turned invisible and caught the side of the building (something certainly within Doctor Who's abilities) or can both turn invisible and fly (which would indicate a new character).

Thing is, neither explanation makes sense. Nathan wouldn't leave him (leaving him doesn't fit with the Nathan we saw this Monday and would render last season's finale with a false tone), and Peter wouldn't be able to fling him away because of being overwhelmed by the kaboom power and all (which is exactly the explanation they've used in repeated interviews as to why Peter couldn't have just flown away himself).

Heroes picked up right back where they left off last season, by blowing. They're consistent, though, and that's something.

I do love drunk Nathan Petrelli and his bushy Castro beard.

I didn't like how modern everyone in 1600's Japan looked, right down to Kenzei's short, 2007 haircut. Attention to detail for a period setting wasn't on anyone's list of priorities.

The Bennett/Butler family dynamic still doesn't make sense. The son is useless as a character. The mom eating at the table and making out with the dog is disgusting. And wasn't all their stuff blown up with their house last season? Seems like they got a nice new house and all the fine furnishings all on Noah Bennett's Copy Kingdom salary.

I was amused by Molly yelling at Matt Parkman. The fat cop got pwned by the little girl. Hey, what happened with Parkman's wife? Was she written out before the finale last season? I wasn't paying attention.

The weakest example of chickenshit writing in the episode was when Claire was playing badminton and said she was going to go find the "birdy thingie." Come on, Tim Kring, I think I speak for your largely male audience that we all would have enjoyed hearing Hayden Panetierre say the word "shuttlecock" on NBC prime time.

It was just a throwaway line in this episode: apparently, they divorced.

I thought it was a nice first episode of the new season.

We all know what happened in the season finale.
Then we skip to 4 months later and everything seems to be sorta ok. Lots of gaps to be told.
They will be told in the upcoming episodes I'm sure or at least somewhere near the end of the season.

I like how from an almost throw away line in last season ("I can find them all, but one sees me so I don't want to find him") the mysterious eyes already turned into some big evil looming overhead. Including Sauron-ish "I can see you" voice.

So we basically have 3 bad guys looming overhead.
- Sylar
- Person who killed Kaito
- The eyes
I doubt they will turn out to be the same people.

Hiro/Kensei does smell of an 'embrace your destiny' story.
Which will somehow mean that by helping Kensei, Hiro helps himself. So far he never traveled through time for no reason. Except Charlie maybe..a bit.

My "way outta left field" theory is that Kensei was the guy who pushed Kaito off the building.

I have nothing to base this on, outside of watching years of illogical plot twists in pro wrestling.

Sorry to be so late to the game... wasn't really thinking about the show too much until this morning.

I felt fairly certain after watching the premiere that the person who killed Kaito and the eyes are supposed to be the same person. I don't think there's room on the show for more than one new super-powered villain.

The consensus among my friends seemed to be a vague sense of disappointment at there being no real "WOW!" moments in the premiere. Personally, the only thing I was disappointed in was that there was a bit too much of a reset from last season. The only main characters who even acknowledge each other's existence are Parkman, Molly, Mohinder, and Noah Bennett. Claire is back in a small town where no one knows about her powers; Hiro is back in time off on his own self-contained story; Nathan is separate from everyone else as well. And don't even get me started on Peter's amnesia, which I always hate in TV shows because it's lazy writing; the writers can't think of a good way to keep a character out of the picture so they give him amnesia.

So I guess to sum it up, I like the direction they're going but I thought the reset was a little extreme after everything they built up last season.
