I guess we might have to actually read these books to find out what is in and out. Yet, Jonny O is right, not a lot of it makes sense. Also, something Grant Morrison is doing not making sense, I call Shenanigans. Shenanigans, what a great word.

Love his character, but a little worried about the sudden tagline of "one of the world's most eligible bachelors." A direction like that could take him from "unique, intelligent leader" to "Black Bruce Wayne."
And while we're on the topic of Mr. Terrific...I don't remember seeing any kind of JSA book among the 52 solicits. That's kind of an unceremonious way for them to go out.

Didio said they're not going to do a JSA book. Their focus is now on "other characters".

Even when they tried to do the training the future storyline which is interesting, it fell apart due too many characters. Zatanna and Gotham Sirens being gone is going to piss of the wife. In hindsight should have bought Booster Gold.

LOD #1 focuses on Heatwave getting thrown in a supervillain prison (which looks suspiciously like the LOD hideout from Superfriends. He is very cocky about his ability to escape despite the fact that Amazo is one of the guards and zaps all metas of their powers.
Another inmate complains about stomach pains from muling a package for Heatwave, only to have an ARM tear out of his mouth to reveal FREAKIN' PLASTIC MAN! Plas then says, "Let's blow this popstand." |

| #131 Posted on 21.6.11 1628.33 | Instant Rating: 7.15 | I have never been into comics (I think I can count on one finger the number of comics I have owned in my life -Marvel's Battlestar Galactica #1 from the 70's). But, for the past few years, I've been wanting to get into them. I picked up some TP's to catch up on some Vertigo stories I want to read (The Sandman, Fables, The Unwritten). I will also catch up on The Dark Tower comics (but that's more due to the connection to novels).
What I've actually really been wanting to do is get in on a series on the ground floor. So, this event has me a little excited, despite it not being a true reboot. I've picked out some of the 52 titles that I will get on day 1. I can't imagine that I will keep up with all of them regularly, but I am looking forward to how everything plays out.
Here's what I'll be getting:
Justice League, Justice League Dark Batman, Detective Comics Superman, Action Comics The Fury of Firestorm (for some reason, Firestorm was my favorite Super Powers action figure (actionfigureinsider.com) when I was a kid) The Savage Hawkman The Flash Green Lantern Captain Atom Mister Terrific Resurrection Man Stormwatch Grifter Legion Lost

Having said that, why not pick up the *other* Legion book too? If you want to only pick up a certain number of titles, I believe Action/Superman and Batman/Detective are both unrelated to each other.
I'm actually kind-of excited for the war books, though I initially mis-read the title of a book, and thought The Blackhawks art was for an all-star team-up of various "Men of War" with the Warlord as leader of said team.

May I wholeheartedly recommend Garth Ennis' Preacher? One of the greatest self-contained stories I've ever read in comics.

Done and done. I was looking at it the day I picked up the other TP's from Barnes and Noble, remembering people here talk about the possible HBO adaptation.
Originally posted by Mike Zeidler why not pick up the *other* Legion book too?
I don't know. Both #1's will tie together, but after that, it's sounds like they'll be separate, right? Legion Lost just sounds more enticing to me, I guess.

It's even better with more recent comics without so many lengthy word balloons, and especially with black and white books like The Walking Dead.

| #137 Posted on 24.6.11 1007.28 | Instant Rating: 6.46 | I read Flashpoint: Wonder Woman and the Furies #1 last night and I thought it was pretty good. It reminded me of Game of Thrones. The backstory from 14 years prior to the events in Flashpoint are revealed; how the alliance between the Amazons and the Atlanteans was forged and then lead to all out war.

| Young Diana impetuously left Themyscira on a boat to do some exploring and was attacked by a Kraken(!). Frankly, they had me at kraken. Aquaman saved her and they decided to marry medieval wedding style to forge an alliance between their two peoples and then go public to the outside world. But factions in both Atlantis and Themyscria were against this union, a la Star Trek VI, and conspired to assassinate... someone at the royal wedding. Instead, Hippolyta (rather predictably) took the ol' spear to the back, igniting the war that would decimate Flashpoint Europe. I liked this quite a bit. |
