I like Weddick's DC backstory. Didn't see his basketball parter being the president, or that the woman Weddick visited was his mistress, but I did see Clemente getting the veep nomination. Was the mistress the woman with the president in his flashforward?
This show tends to get angsty, but I think Weddick had the right amount of anger about Mark being drunk for his flashforward. I think that as much as we're supposed to think Weddick sent the text to Olivia, it was Aaron. I think the Mark-Olivia breakup is going to be painful to watch, if only because knowing the outcome makes the angst between here and there seemingly annoying and gratuitous.
Did Janis' date actually use Mosaic as a verb?
I did like Benford's disdainful "I hate karaoke."
"Like a Rolling Stone" seemed woefully out of place for a gunfight. I would hesitate to send anyone into a firefight who didn't have a vision of the future (or know their date of death like Noh), but I guess if the Chinese assassins were sleeping during their visions, maybe they didn't know they didn't have any? How exactly did Mark and co. survive the rocket in the car?
The image of the rolling alarm clock making trails through Janis' pool of blood was intriguing. Did she get hit in the uterus?
So I'm guessing the President is in league with the CIA to make it look like the Chinese did this, which is why the President had Chinese assassins dispatched to off Mark's team. But they survived so the President will have no choice but to make Weddick head of DHS as offered, and Clemente will be his veep. But then the President's going to have to step down when his news of his affair breaks anyway, and Clemente is president. Until 4/29, when something happens to her, which is why the President's aide is telling him that something happened in his flashforward. Maybe?
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
I have not seen this show yet, but I've read on here and elsewhere what is happening on it.
As best as I can tell, it seems like a jumbled mess with way too much plot going on and it's hard to follow.
What ever happened to television being the 'idiot box'? All these shows like this and LOST make me glad I am not that interested in them. I feel like I'd get a headache watching them.
Well that was a complete change of pace. Not in a bad way though IMO. It did a good job of introducing a ton of new characters and setting the stage for the politics side of the plot.
They also used Clementi well to address a goodly number of questions which Weddick, by his own admission, should have already been asking about Mark. Weddick continues to be awesome in my eyes though. From glorified comic relief to blackmailing the president in five episodes. Good stuff.
Clemente looks like an early frontrunner for "heel most likely to pull a face turn". Interested to hear more about her backstory with Weddick though.
"Was the mistress the woman with the president in his flashforward?"
Pretty sure no, but I'd have to double check.
Did Janis' date actually use Mosaic as a verb?
She bloody did too! I liked it. When you think how quickly things like 'Tweeted' and 'Googled' made their way into common usage, it seems pretty reasonable people would start using Mosaic like that in their world. People using Mosaic out of general nosiness also seems highly likely.
"How exactly did Mark and co. survive the rocket in the car?"
They were in a different car, behind the one that got hit, I think.
"Like a Rolling Stone" seemed woefully out of place for a gunfight.
Almost sooooo out of place it had to be intentional, but I'm not smart enough to figure out what the significance of it was. I wasn't sure if they were trying to get over the fact that it was an atypical gunfight because Mark, Noh and Weddick were all fairly certain of their survival (and looked to become so in that moment) but it was definitely weird.
The one downer for me is that there was no follow up on the Indio thing. I mean, Alda must have had a reason for pulling that diner's name out her ass, right? Or was it just a good ole fashioned wild goose chase?
I can't find again where I read this, but the show's creator said the original intention was to have Lennon's "Gimme Some Truth" play during the shootout (hence the episode's title). They couldn't get the licensing rights, but they kept the ep title. No reason why "Like a Rolling Stone" was used as the replacement.
