Do you think they've made enough changes to warrant the major build number changing 3 separate times, or do they think that having a big number makes it seem like they're making progress? Or is this just an excuse to get more cakes from Microsoft?

Minor updates, instead of being a subset of a main release, will get their own release number if they fall within the release cycle. Yeah, I don't get it either.

There was also a moment there were Mozilla was talking about removing the version number from the "About" section, so you couldn't easily discern which version you had installed.
Version numbers in Firefox aren't going anywhere (arstechnica.com)
They're getting pretty wacky over there at Mozilla.

I had installed 4 at one point, wasn't happy with the changes (I'm a total "I like it the way I know it" guy) and hit the System Restore. I had no idea they'd gone beyond 4! Maybe it's time to suck it up and upgrade, but I'm not sure to what! | drjayphd
