Truthfully, none of those are particularly bad options (better than we've seen previously, certainly). Option 2 is probably the most ideal of the bunch, although I can see HHH preferring to put the rub on his buddy Sheamus. Even option 1 is still pretty good, as there is a big, sensible story being told with Bryan taking on HHH. It's a big match with big implications - just not title implications, and I think that's what most people want to see. It's just too bad that Punk's out, and Shawn Michaels was never really in. Bryan/Punk vs. DX would have been an absolutely stellar, once-in-a-lifetime main event.

I kinda prefer Door #1. Even adding Bryan to the title match doesn't guarantee that Batista won't be walking out champion.

I don't want to see HHH/Cena again at WrestleMania, nor do I want to see HHH/Sheamus again. Surely, he has better opponents than WrestleMania rematches. HHH/Bryan at least has tons of story buildup going for it.

How about HHH vs Kane if Bryan is added to the Orton/Batista match?

Something about the stubbornness of the booking really shows some trace elements of a "Batista was contractually promised the Rumble win and title at WrestleMania" virus, which would be stupid and exactly why WWE doesn't really do a lot of long term booking to begin with.

I'm going to put on my Magic Bullshit Hat and say that HHH-Bryan will open the show, with the stipulation that if Bryan wins he'll be added to the main event to make it a triple threat match.

See, I was thinking that they would go Triple H vs Bryan, career vs title shot. Bryan pulls out the victory, then goes on to win the title in his home town in the next PPV. But I must say, I like your idea too!

Right, this is my balls-out-of-the-bath ideal card:

Taker/Cena (Sting as guest ref)

Bryan(c)/Batista (HBK as guest ref)

HHH/Punk (Austin as guest ref)

Rock vs Brock vs Orton

SHIELD/WYATTS II AT MANIA 30 OR WE RIOT

(Seriously, instead of breaking up the Shield can't WWE just introduce six-man tag titles? And the Shield and Wyatts can trade them back and forth forever like they were the Von Erichs and Freebirds?)

PWInsider says they've been reassessing the whole card all week, even including Undertaker/Lesnar.

We did it, everybody! We complained so well that we willed away the Wrestlemania card we didn't want. I'm proud of all of us and I will never forget what we've shared.

On the real, it seems like almost every proposed card in these threads was both more logical and appealing than what they've tried to move forward with. And they weren't cards that tossed Cena and Orton into a MITB match, they had something for everybody. Like, I promise you Dave Batista would have a lot more momentum today if he had come back into a big showdown with Brock Lesnar and not Randy Orton.

I don't know if focusing on the Network has caused them to take their eye off the ball or if they're just out to a high-protein lunch, but they haven't whiffed on a Mania like this in a long time. There's still a lot of time, though.

I thought Cena/Bray had hit a point of no return now that they started the run-ins, but I guess it could always be explained as HHH making them doing it.

The newsletter also had this.

The feeling is that Sting won't be rushed into a match at WrestleMania, and we're told the working idea right now is for him to perhaps be the new Raw General Manager.

I can think of no better way to keep Sting hot than by having him talk all the time and declare that Raw is SHOWTIME. That's how he stayed so over in 1998, right?

If HHH isn't putting over Punk or Bryan or wrestling Sting in a match built for Sting to work, he shouldn't be on the card at all. Nothing against Sheamus, but a 20-minute HHH Epic Match vs. Sheamus would help no one and only take away from whatever Bryan DOES get to do. Take away those three options and literally the only thing I want HHH to do on XXX is try to screw Bryan, only to have Warrior run out and destroy him before he can do it.

It's way too late to get there now, but HHH vs. Wyatt, with HHH putting Bray over, could have solved a lot of problems for them.

Cesaro getting into the Chamber made me think - if we assume Punk is out and Bryan goes to HHH - that they were going to tease a Sheamus-Cesaro strong-man opener for XXX. Christian, of course, will make his Dying Wish a chance to break The Streak.

Cena/Wyatt did seem greatly downplayed after the PPV. They did the run-in on Monday's main event, but it was quickly pivoted to Wyatts/Shield. HHH's otherwise inexplicable reluctance on SmackDown! to make Shield/Wyatts works if he's been employing both of them.

Man, the fact that HHH doesn't have a fresh matchup with anybody is a problem for everybody!

There seemed a slight hint of Reigns/HHH on Smackdown last night. Maybe the storyline is HHH vs. Reigns at Mania, with Ambrose taking HHH's side and Rollins being conflicted? Only downside there is that it probably keeps Rollins and Ambrose from actually wrestling at the PPV.

Part of me wishes that whatever match Batista ends up in at Mania, he takes the boos and online abuse as a personal affront and takes it upon himself to put on the best possible match. Remember, he and Taker were pissed over not getting the main event at WM23 so they decided to up their games and steal the show. A super-motivated Batista against an always-great Bryan would be a hell of a match (even if you tossed And Also Randy Orton in there to make it a triangle match).

As much as I love the Bray Wyatt character, having him face Cena seems like a weird choice for both men. For Bray, it seems like a bit too much too soon. For Cena, it seems like it'd be his midcard equivalent to Austin facing Scott Hall at WM18.

Provided Punk isn't coming back, it still seems like you can run this card....

* Cena/Undertaker
* Orton vs. Bryan vs. Batista vs. Lesnar for the WWE championship
* HHH/Reigns, with Ambrose and Rollins as 'designated ringside enforcers'
* Sheamus/Bray Wyatt
* Cody/Goldust
* Bad News Barrett/Big E Langston for the IC title
* Usos/New Age Outlaws for the tag titles (in a match that can easily be turned into a 45-second squash for the Usos to save time on the card)
* AJ vs. Tamina vs. Brie vs. Nikki, diva's title

....and you're laughing all the way to the bank. You make your new megastar in Reigns, you establish your new star in Bryan and you have your dream match headliner.

Why does Triple H have to be on the card at all? He's an authority (no pun intended) figure now. He doesn't have to wrestle to be a (big) part of the show. Also, who goes to new Orleans or buys the PPV, I mean Network, to see him wrestle?

Agreed.

Besides, I thought HHH was supposed to be the Vince McMahon in this story? Besides, WM-28 was the perfect send off for his wrestling career, everything he's done in the ring since then has felt distinctly below-par in my honest opinion.

I live an hour away from NOLA and bought my ticket with friends (who I also went to last year's Elimination Chamber with) on the day they went on sale. My reasons:

Punk
Bryan
Lesnar
Shield

One of the friends has a kid, so Cena is on the list of people we are going to see.

HHH and Shemus sure aren't on our list of people we're paying to see.

Here's my WM card, loosely based on current booking. Also, I think the assumption that Undertaker will be ready for the brutality of a Lesnar match might not be the safest one, and I don't know what you do with him in the midcard, so... no Undertaker.

Pre-show - 20 man battle royal WM payday for shot at IC Title on the PPV - (Big Show, Miz, 3MB, Bad News Barrett, Tensai, Brodus Clay, Xavier Woods, R-Truth, Darren Young, Titus O'Neil, Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Khali, Fandango, Ezekial Jackson, Christian - winner - Christian)

Analyst Panel - Mark Henry, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels

Cody Rhodes vs. Golddust

Money In The Bank - Daniel Bryan vs. Kane vs. Sheamus vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow (Bryan wins, vows cash in TONIGHT)

Intercontinental Title - Big E Langston vs. Christian

4 Way Tag Title Match - Usos vs. Real Americans vs. Los Matadors vs. New Age Outlaws

Elimination 6-Man Match - Shield vs. Wyatt Family

#1 Contenders Match - John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar

"How many Divas can we squeeze into a 15-minute segment including entries and Kid Rock singing?" Match for the Divas Title

WWE World Heavyweight Championship - Randy Orton vs. Batista w/ Special Referee Triple H

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Cash-In - Batista vs. Daniel Bryan

So with this card, the biggest issue for creative to figure out in the next 7 weeks is Cena/Lesnar. I'm sure they can get that straight. Honestly, I think labeling it a #1 contenders match might just be enough. They both believe they deserve a WWE World Title shot. Maybe Brock costs Cena a MITB qualifying match (lets say vs. Sandow).

I have a hot insiderz-only scoop that the COO Triple H himself (!!!) told Vince that Triple H is a major draw for the WWE and as such he should... no MUST be involved in the biggest show of the year.

Plugging Reigns into the HHH match then just doing the Bryan/Orton/Batista thing and leaving the other matches untouched seems like the most logical thing to do.

It's funny that the other day we were drawing parallels between this & the original 'corporation' story, fourteen years ago.

Because if we're going to do that like for like, then The Royal Rumble ending is comparable to the screwy finish of Wrestle-Mania 2k, in that it was hugely controversial & got epic amounts of hate from all corners. Now back in the year 2000, WWE wisely capitalized on that controversy to drive the story forward, which made for a truly special moment when Rock finally won.

Therefore Elimination Chamber is Backlash. And Bryan HAS to get the belt at Backlash.

(he probably won't though)

This is the only well of of the few problems that happen when you only have 3 weeks betwwen PPV's the whole card is rematches. I think in the eventually they need to cut backlash because does any one even care about any of the matches?
