I didn't see a thread about it, and I'm not sure if this belongs in video games or movies, but since it's a DVD, I guess I'm puting it in movies.

Anybody else bothered to watch the US version yet?

- I think the pretty much nailed the voice cast for the US versions of the major characters. I wasn't a big fan of the villains, however.

-I liked the story...for the most part. I also think it felt really disjointed and rushed. Like, as a sequel to the game, I think the story works, but I just don't think there was quite enough there, especially given the game's breadth. Though:

I wasn't really a huge fan of how Sepharoth was shoehorned into the story, and while I liked how they kind of kept Aerith as a "in Cloud's head" thing, I think a lot of fans will have a problem with her basically giving her blessing to the Tifa/Cloud romance, because Cloud and Aerith were supposed to be soulmates even in death

-The CG was great, much better than Spirits Within, I think, but the character animation is still a long way away from being as good as they'd like.

-If nothing, it makes me REALLY want to see them update the game on the PS3.

Tonight I wanna ruin my life,
I wanna throw it all away,

I loved it and watched it several times while I had it and plan on buying it. I agree that the voice acting and CG was great. Although I almost wish they would've done a movie about the Turks, I thought Reno and Rude were the best part of the movie and Tifa was great too. Cloud was just alright but I've never actually been a big Cloud fan. I wasn't crazy about the villians or how they used Sephiroth either.

I didn't like how Sephiroth was used, but other than that I thought it was a good action movie and a nice display of the CG. The voices, for the most part, worked very well. Random thoughts:

*Barret said "Foo!"
*Yoo-fee?
*Count me among the (apparent) minority of people who say "Aeris" because in the American version of the game it says "Aeris."
*I, too, can't wait for a remake on the PS3. Sequel games are nice (Dirge of Cerberus, in particular, seems interesting), but I want the original game with cleaned-up text and PS3-caliber graphics.

This will get added at the end of each post you make, below an horizontal line. This should preferably be kept to a small enough size.

Yuffie's name is indeed pronounced "Yoo-fee."

In the Japanese language cut scenes of the Dirge of Cerebus game, Vincent pronounces it "Yoo-fee."

Keep in mind guys, when have we ever heard Yuffie's name actually been said out loud in something Final Fantasy before.

Also, the name or word "Yu" in Japanese is always pronounced, "Yoo", so it makes sense that it would be, "Yoo-fee."

About Cloud and Aerith:

Cloud and Aerith aren't soulmates. Its Aerith and Zack. Fans need to get over it and realize that Cloud and Aerith can never have a relationship because she's dead.

About Sephiroth:

Well, Cloud had to exorcise his demons, but Sephiroth is one demon that will never die. I think Sephiroth even says in Kingdom Hearts 2, "You can never kill me Cloud. Your darkness keeps calling me back."

Ultimately I love the fact that Cloud rejects and defeats Sephiroth's uber-nihilism because nihilism sucks.

My complaints:

-A complete and utter waste of a second disc. All of that could've been fit on one disc.

-Lack of certain extras. No Last Order OVA included on the Japanese Advent Pieces edition. I feel after they whiffed on the Sept. '05 release date and made us wait basically seven months with no information or release date in sight, we were owed Last Order. Also, the interviews with the English VA's you can only get on the bonus Gamestop pre-order DVD should've also been included. Bad form Square Enix. Very bad form.

What's awesome:

-Steven Blum is pure, unadultered SEX as Vincent Valentine.

-Newburn (Superman on JLU) did an awesome Sephiroth, the voice and the fight give me chills.

-Reminiscence is a great extra. It's a half hour recap of Final Fantasy VII using footage and cutscenes from the game. It's framed around scenes of Cloud on his motorcycle making phone calls of which:

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Vincent FINALLY GETS A PHONE! Vincent calls Cloud and tells him to pass on a message to Yuffie to never call his cell phone again. It's Vincent's cell phone and she has no right to call it .

Cloud asks Tifa out.

-Trailer for Dirge of Cerebus which looks totally clown shoes.

-To those who would complain about Cait Sith having a Scottish accent, Cait Sith is a creature that comes from Irish and Scottish mythology.

I liked it, but I forgot how moody Cloud was. And with all the cutscenes to him hallucinating about Aeris, I forgot how nuts he could be. I liked the unofficial Cowboy Bebop reunion of Blum and Billingsly. The Cloud-group-toss was silly, but seeing the group fight Bahamut was fun. I was thinking after Cloud and everyone went through all this trouble to keep Sephiroth from returning, surely he'd stick around and wreak more havoc than a brief swordfight. Still, I guess as long as he remains a demon in Cloud's mind that can be brought back, that's not so bad. Except for the fact that Cloud acts nuts.

Good point. Was that Zack that Aeris was walking out of church with? I hope that's the end of the Aeris-Cloud thing, and he can finally let her go. He seems as obsessed with her as the Remnants are with Mother.

Are all the swords that Cloud used from the game? I loved that motorcycle arsenal. That was awesome.

Props to having the Gunblade in this movie; I marked out of it.

WHen did Shin-Ra become part of the "good guy" team? Or are they merely a shade of grey? Reno and Rude were AWESOME.

Yes that was Zack. I don't think Cloud is obsessed with her, so much as saddened and guilt-ridden that he couldn't save her.

Nope. Cloud's sword from the game was the buster sword, which Cloud stuck on the hill that I believe used to belong to Zack. So he uses it as a memorial to Zack.

His sword in Advent Children is The First Tsurugi. I'm not sure where the hell he got it though.

The ultimate attack he uses with Tsurugi is awesome.

I'd say they are still pretty shady. Considering that they tried to take posession of Jenova's head. And for what purpose? Not only that, but they lied to Cloud about that and they told Kadaj and his gang that Cloud had Jenova's head, causing them to attack Cloud.

Shinra is still pretty bogus, but yeah, Reno and Rude are awesome and the comedic duo of the 21st century.

This is a vast improvement over last year, but part of me still wishes they had just blatantly copied 24 and not started the season until January.
