As someone who upgraded from PS2 to XBox 360 (and will probably sell my PS2 and its extensive collection of games, since it's just gathering dust, quite frankly), I'm curious as to whether we might see classic Final Fantasy games on the modern systems in some form. I'd love an enhanced remake but heck, I'd settle for the originals.
I know Final Fantasy IX and probably VII are available on the PlayStation network. To be specific, I'm curious as to the re-release status of X, X-2 and XII, on the XBox 360. Has anyone here heard speculation that those games may be re-released? I know they're still relatively new, especially XII, which was released quite late into the PlayStation 2's life.

Honestly, if it hasn't happened yet, it probably won't for a while.
There was a huge stink made before the PS3 launch, because Square Enix did its benchmark test on Final Fantasy VII characters running in what would become the FFXIII engine, which led to all kinds of speculation that they were working on an update for it.
They got asked about it a bunch of times, and they shut the idea down pretty firmly at that point, I think. But it's sort of inevitable I think. Eventually they'll come out for some iteration of the DS or PSP (or less likely a console), but I don't see it happening for a generation or two.
