You fix the "not giving Oklahoma State a chance"-part. I find it funny that the argument against Oklahoma State getting the spot is "well, they shouldn't have lost", when Alabama - you know - lost, too.

But unlike OSU, Alabama lost at home to the same team they're going to get a rematch against because every game counts or something.

Yeah but not all losses are equal, as college football has shown us over the years. Losing a close game to the best team in the nation, versus losing a game that shouldn't even have been close. Takes me back to 93 when ND lost to Boston College after beating FSU. At least there's some consistency I suppose. Bama proved they can challenge and possibly beat LSU in losing. OSU proved they can be upset by a nobody. That's not to take away from the great season they had and I'd pick them to destroy that same team if they played again. But it happened so it gets taken into consideration.

But like I said I'd prefer OSU have gotten their chance. I'm just not at all bothered that they didn't.

I may be wrong but overall didn't the computers favor OSU and the "Real People" favor Bama. OSU is suffering from a lack of history and long-term success which is unfortunate. Until we get a playoff system this will happen.

What's funny about that is something I never realized until today...the NFL takes the exact opposite approach. Their tiebreaker (if it gets that far) is "strength of victory", not "weakness of losses". And example of how that would apply to college football in 2011 is the Big East, which finished with a three way-tie among West Virginia, Cincinnati, and Louisville. All three of those teams went 1-1 against the other, but if you apply strength of victory to break the tie, West Virginia wins...but their other loss was to lowly Syracuse, who finished 1-6 in conference play. (Both Cincinnati and Louisville lost to teams that went 4-3 in conference, giving them strength of victory pct. of .333/14-21. West Virginia's was .486/17-18.)

Four of the computers favored OkSt.

Just for fun I ran the computer numbers and came up with the bracket for the "what JJD would do if he ran the world" playoffs, and it was pretty interesting how it turned out. The non-AQS actually had pretty good conference champions this year (especially 10-2 Arkansas State in the Sun Belt).

(1) LSU v. (16) Southern Miss/(17) West Virginia-winner
(8) Kansas State v. (9) Wisconsin

(4) Stanford v. (13) Michigan/(20) Louisiana Tech-winner
(5 Arkansas v. (12) Baylor

(2) Alabama v. (15) Clemson/(18) Arkansas State-winner
(7) Boise State v. (10) Oklahoma

(3) Oklahoma State v. (14) TCU/(19) Northern Illinois-winner
(6) Oregon v. (11) South Carolina

The ironic argument of ND/FSU is that you had people this weekend saying even if LSU loses, they should get in. Probably, the same people who voted ND all the way down to sixth after that lose. It is amazing how when its a team from the south they automatically get rematches, but no one north of the Mason Dixon or out West get nothing. If anything it proves what I have felt since 1993, the South will play favorites regardless of Conference, they view college football as their sport and will always keep it that way.

Aww, Miami are like the simple kid in class that gave the dumbest answers the whole time, but got given candy anyway for trying so hard. Good on em for finally getting one right. New England, you're next!
