My sweetie is giving me a PS3 for Christmas...and I remember that the system can run Folding.

I have three questions.

1: Is it easy to set up?
2: Is it safe to run 24/7?
3: Does it run in the background when games or playing, or does it have to be shut down?

Thanks!

1) Yes. It's already installed.
2) Not that I know. The older model I have gives off a lot of heat, but there's no equivalent to the 360 Red Ring Of Death issue I've heard of because of it.
3) It does not run in the background - it only runs in the foreground, but it can be set up as a sort of screensaver to run when idle (and NOT in a game) or it can be selected to run in the foreground if you want.

If it matters, I'll be getting the slim version of the PS3.

There is an auto shutdown option so when I'm done gaming, I'll recharge my headset and controller while it is folding. I set mine for 3 hours and that seems to keep everything charged for my needs.

How long does it take to fold some units? If I ran it for nine hours, how many units can I expect to complete?

Depending on the size, that should be enough for 2.

I'm so angry that they delayed the first Professor Layton game, but if it gives it more of a chance to succeed than it would have gotten being released now then I understand.
