I'm sorry, I know I sound like a hater, but I still can't shake the feeling that the FEELY TOP FORTY is just a way to try to show off by saying "Look at all the cool indie rock alt emo underground bands I listen to!".
I'm rather surprised to see COHEED AND CAMBRIA on your bottom forty, what caused this? Is it that I've started hearing them on mainstream radio?
How do you feel about that new Ministry?
Needs more BELLE & SEBASTIAN! (hehehe...)
Cerebus: RIP 1977-2004.
"What do you think it's like being created by a manic-depressive, paranoid schizophrenic, hypochondriac, misogynist with delusions of grandeur and a messiah complex?"
I have no real objections with what FurryHippie said except for the inclusion of the word "emo" in there. Fuck emo. Which is kind of nice segueway to Coheed And Cambria. They're in my bottom forty because...they're not very good? Franz Ferdinand is top-five at Alternative radio right now, so it's not like that's a factor in it. Although the awful C&C video always being on MTV2 probably is. New Ministry...eh. No real feelings either way. And as soon as there's a third single from "Dear Catastrophe Waitress", I'll be on it.
Well Feely, Franz Ferdinand is hitting a lot of stations now due to the fact that it's really good. I picked up their CD based on your recommendation, and my friend picked it up because he heard me listening to my copy. Good music rocks.
CALGARY FLAMES: Your 2004 Western Conference Champions DVDs I Own
How the crap is Three Days Grace only #30 on the bottom 40? I just heard that song and the only thing that stopped me from smashing the radio under several boxes of files is that it wasn't my radio.
Now I know why I didn't listen to WCCC. (And Feely, if you're in the area and have parked yer ass there, isn't it funny they say they're independent, but they run Infinity radio sales ads?)
DEAN's Nuggets of Wisdom:
"I don't want him to die. I just want him to NEED my PEE." (as seen here)
No I haven't, but I'm sure it is. And as for only #30, well, there's a lot of crap out there. And...well, looking at the list now, everything below it is even more obnoxiously generic or just plain obnoxious. Hm, looking at that it really does seem not low enough for that song, but yeah, there's nothing I'd really put it "above".
Belle & Sebastian's new EP/Single is called BOOKS. it features WRAPPED UP IN BOOKS from Dear Catastrophy Waitress and a new six minute plus song titled YOUR COVER'S BLOWN. The latter has been getting played alot on our college radio (WBUL from University of South Florida) and on our only indie station, WMNF public radio. YOUR COVER'S BLOWN and the other new song, Your Secrets are WAY BETTER then the whole last album.
It's nice to hear them again without Trevor Horn crapping all over their work, but I'm told this is just personal taste.
Edit: Yes, I DO seem to be their biggest fan here in the states. OH MY GOD! I'm a B&S MARK!!

This list always depresses me. If it wasn't for it, I would never know certain pieces of information. For example, there's no way I'd know that Train has *another* single. They're back again? Didn't dreadfully dull one-hit-wonders used to, you know, disappear after that one song? Did anyone hear "Drops of Jupiter" or..., um, whatever the hell their first song that sounded just like it was called and think "Man, I gotta get some more of that!".
Feely's Bottom Forty confirms my atheism week after week after week.
(The Top Forty, on the other hand, is really fucking good and I regularly download songs from it I've never heard when I have nothing better to do. And, come on folks, he's got fucking Jet in there. And Green Day. You don't get anymore mainstream than Green Day. That oughta be enough proof right there that the list is legitimately based on actual merit.)
EDIT: Another reason to hate the Feely Bottom Forty - now I'm sitting here racking my brian trying to remember what the first Train single was. I keep coming up with stuff that turns out to be either Nickelback or Seven Mary Three.

I think it was Meet Virginia, but I could be wrong as I really don't like the band much either.
I too have been randomly downloading tracks from the top 40 that seem like they may be good. A cool band name, cool song title, or just a very high ranking seem to be my qualifications for this. So far I've had about a 75/25 success rate with whether or not I like the songs. Thanks for such a useful service, Feely.
Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her. Harry: That's a special feeling.

Yep, it was "Meet Virginia". Then..."I Am" I think was the second single off that album that bombed. But then they released "Drops Of Jupiter"! And then the other singles (Something More, She's On Fire) from that album bombed too. And then the same thing happened with the third album and "Calling All Angels" beeing the only one that had any success. Yep.

Why was Alabama up for group of the year? Did they even have a single released all year? I'm a bit surprised "Live Like You Were Dyin'" won single and song of the year, but I liked it so I'm not complaining.
