If anyone likes Thieve's World, they should check out Robert Aspirin's "Myth-adventure" series. Cool stuff.

I hate modern fiction! When it comes to fantasy nobody can beat the classics, Stoker, Lovecraft, Tolkein...

Check out the original Phantom of the Opera (the old novel not the crappy stage version) and any Lovecraft you can find... I'm not one of those Cthulhu worshipping freaks but I can't deny that the man was a good writer.

Coming from the other extreme...I'm a pretty big fan of Tolkien and Lovecraft (less so Stoker), and the prose of Ursula K. Leguin, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Neal Stephenson is as good as Tolkien and blows Lovecraft away. Lovecraft is more well known for his ideas than for being a particularly good writer (but they are pretty freaking awesome ideas). There are scary moments in Rats in the Walls, At the Mountains of Madness, and Shadow Over Innsmouth, but you have to labor through a lot of awkward, descriptive passages to get to it.

On a side note, it would be interesting to see how many times Lovecraft used certain words in his career. I think that the words "Eldritch", "Non-Euclidean", "Cyclopean", and "Tentacle" would number at least over a few thousand.

Not a dis-service to you, but to anyone in the age range 15 - 22 because, IMHO, while they will do what they want, they tend to be not mature enough to figure out what is and what is not good for them. Take Sean Shannon for eg.

I know several people across many age ranges that do not know what is and is not good for them. My favorite thought on that subject: "Common sense is not nearly as common as its name implies."

And I've also noticed that as I get older, the older people around me are getting smarter! Dig that....

Thank you very much, everyone, I appreciate it. I'm more of a chicken or fish eater than a beef eater, so seeing something like that on cooked roast beef kind of caught me by surprize.
