If you're not watching and loving every second of this gem on FX, then you're no friend of mine.
This show is incredible. It's an intricately woven dark story with awesome characters, dialogue and tone. I can't get over the performance by this cast and the casting in general. Billy Bob freaking Thornton rules over all of us. Martin Freeman has evolved his character into something so dark, it's impossible to recognize him as the same guy who got bullied in the first episode. Colin Hanks and the supporting players - Bob Odenkirk, Oliver Platt, Mr. Numbers and Mr. Wrench, and now, Key and Peele - are so strong as well.
There are three episodes left, and with the way the last episode ended, you know Allison Tolman is due to break out and just own this show as her character is set to bring Lester down hard.
Yeah, this is an awesome show. Billy Bob Thorton cracks me up. It seems like everyone around him are so dumb and his interaction with them is funny as hell. I feel badly for Deputy Solverson because Bob Odenkirk is such an idiot and underminds everything she does while inadvertently helping Lester Nygaard get away with murder or framing someone. I have never seen the Fargo movie so I don't know if that helps or hurts my enjoyment of this show.

I'm in the same boat. I know it's not hurting my enjoyment of the show, because I'm loving it. I love the long camera shots they do of Thornton just standing off in the distance. So creepy. I'm wondering how they might do a second season, if it comes to that.

The TV series is a standalone story that takes place in the same universe. There is one very specific connection between the movie and TV series, but it is unnecessary to know what that is in order to enjoy the TV series. I recommend watching the movie to catch the connection.

Apparently, this is an anthology series, similar to American Horror Story. Each season = different standalone story.
Also, I thought Martin Freeman was doing a crappy job with an American accent then I noticed everyone else talking like the Mom from Bobby's World. I guess that's a thing in Minnesota?
