| #5 Posted on 10.4.02 1418.58 | I've got Percival on two teams, but other than that I've been a picture of health, oh yes I have. Well, kind of. I traded Bob Wickman for Fred McGriff after our draft, because I was desperate for power, right, and I was like, "I could seriously kill myself right now," and then I traded Mark Kotsay for Flash Gordon and I said, "Well, that's better," and then Flash Gordon DIED, so I dumped Flash Gordon.
So, in essence, I traded Bob Wickman and Mark Kotsay for Fred McGriff, but I later rebounded by picking up Braden Looper, who then became a closer hahahaha no he didn't he sucked like no one's business and I released HIM and TODAY I cut John Rocker after drafting Everett and Rocker as the nWo and I'm trying to trade Everett but no one wants him because he sucks, and Miguel Tejada isn't hitting for beans and neither is Jim Thome (later acquisition, used McGriff to get him) and neither is Rafael Palmeiro, but on the plus side, I have Curt Schilling and Mike Mussina, and Jeremy Giambi is having the fast start for the good season I expect (I traded shitty dork Fernando Tatis for him) but Carlos Beltran isn't hitting EITHER, but Matt Lawton has been a PEACH and Travis Fryman (a free agent scoop-up) has been a nice surprise and has outplayed Mike Lowell thus far.
What an awesome sentence that was.
But my problem without Percival is that my relief corps is made up of Al Levine, Jorge Julio, Jim Mecir and David Riske, who was the guy I dropped Rocker for. I like Riske a lot, and we count holds, so ehhhh. It would also be nice if Luis Pujols would just make Mike Rivera the full-time catcher in Detroit, because Mitch Meluskey is not as good as him at anything at all. I'm sure he will, he managed Rivera in the minors.
My team is painfully okay and could be good but a lot of things would have to go right.

| #6 Posted on 10.4.02 1424.31 | Instant Rating: 0.00 | I would definitely hold on to Beltran and Thome... both should turn it around soon. McGriff should be decent but that was a wise move getting Thome with him. Your's should play out ok.
On the plus side my only injury hurting me in any league was the maddux one. If he wasn't hurt i may not be in last place because of my pitching!. LoL. Yeah right.

Well duh. I really like Beltran. He's kinda sucked but he DOES already have two triples, and my wacky scoring uses triples so that's a plus.
The trade for Thome was uneven, but it didn't improve the other team much, so I went for it. I got Thome, Matt Lawton and Jason Bere for J.D. Drew, Fred McGriff and Ryan Dempster. I like Dempster and obviously you're going, "J.D. Drew is going to be a superstar!" And sure, he is, but I don't have a strong enough team to mess with a guy so injury prone, so I went for "reliable" with Lawton and he's been my pal so far. I figured Thome-for-McGriff was an upgrade, and I still figure that. I like Bere, too, for whatever reason.

| #8 Posted on 10.4.02 1735.03 | You might want to look at D'Angelo Jiminez on the Padres as a sleeper pick. He's got pretty good speed so doubles and triples aren't out of the question. He's already shown he can hit for power this season, and I expect him to hit between 10 and 20 home runs.
His last season at 100% he hit over .320, but it wasn't in the bigs.
Oh, and he's already had a 7 game hitting streak this season.

That's alright I should've known he was injured. I also started off with Jeff Zimmerman who is injured and that left me with just Benitez. I would've kept Zimmerman on the injured reserve but needed some relief pitching desperately so I picked up Mike Williams of Pittsburgh, which so far has been a great move because he has four saves alone which puts me in third in saves. I never would've guessed that Williams would have more saves than Benitez (he just got his first save today). In the end Zimmerman might have a better season than Williams but i was desperate for a reliever that wasn't injured.
Now I really need some stolen bases, so I added Delino Deshields and Kenny Lofton so far they've done nothing though. And I also need some wins, my pitchers have pitched well,2.45 ERA, which is first but on 2 wins which is last.
Today's performance by Shawn Estes was a typial start for my team. He pitched 7 innings and I think only gave up one run (i think his other run was unearned but not positive) but didn't get a decision.

Maybe you could trade him for Darren Oliver.
Let me join the "Rocker sucks" chorus, too. I draft him on all my teams, just for amusement. He was great the first half of last year, but it seems like he all of a sudden has forgotten how to pitch. The only injry that's bothered me is Jeff Kent, and that was only for a few days.
Maybe that's why I'm in first place and Quezzy is in a paltry third. (TAG!) ;)

On a side note i know it's obvious that people should keep Thome i just didn't know if you were trade happy and looking for immediate impact instead of looking for the long run. Beltran... you either like him or dont. His team sucks but he's good.

Quite honestly, I would've traded him for Melvin Nieves. I hate dropping someone like Everett, because like, what if? I mean, you know, he COULD be good. COULD. But he sucks. And Rocker sucks too and he can take his three-whiff ninth inning from last night and shove it up his ass with the 9.00/1.50 games he had for me while he was actually ON my team.

Well those stolen bases must have been before I got him because my team has zero stolen bases, and we don't get points for runs, batting average has been good though.

Yeah, I hear that. A friend of mine hung on to Darin Erstad all of last season hoping he'd go back to his MVP ways, but no such luck.
I was really close to unloading Rocker, but decided against it. In most of my leagues I did a bad job getting relief, so I need saves any way I can get them. In one league I've got Billy Wagner, Eric Gagne, John Smoltz and John Rocker (with Zimmerman on the DL). Five closers, but the only one I pegged for a sure bet was Wagner. Ironically, he hasn't notched a save yet.
