This video made it onto Tuesday's episode of Pardon the Interruption on ESPN so I thought it might be worth posting here.

One of PTI's hosts, Mike Wilbon, said he had attended many live wrestling events with his dad when he was a kid and *insisted* that the fan in the video was a plant, much like the plants he used to see when he went to shows. Tony Kornheiser, the other host, thought it was totally legit.

Me, I side with Tony. That was a heckuva punch. Nobody messes with the Chairman!

The fan was not a plant; he's a known problem fan who has had past incidents, though not this dramatic.

I'm not sure what promotion this is or where it lies in the hierarchy of promotions, but I'm wondering why, if this guy is a known troublemaker, wouldn't he be banned from all live events (or at least banned from sitting ringside)? And if not before because those incidents weren't that big a deal, how likely is it that it happens now? Is the promotion too small-time to turn away a paying customer? Not enough staff to keep him out? Are unwanted altercations with fans common at this level?

I don't follow any independents or international orgs, so my only points of reference are WWE and the former WCW. And if anything remotely close to this happened in those promotions I have to believe he'd get roughed up and tossed out in a heartbeat, possibly never to return to another WWE/WCW event. And that's assuming that crowd control wasn't told in advance of the wrestlers' plan to take the action into the crowd so that they could already be there to keep the fans at bay.

No
He's probably banned for a while.
Yes.
Most definitely yes.
Yes.

The building holds shows on every Tuesday and Sunday, and those Tuesday shows have had some epically low turnouts in recent years, like ~100 people in a ~3,000 seat building. This was a Sunday show, but they're reluctant to run anyone out.

Security is often horrible at most lucha shows, and it's a common complaint from the luchadors. It's sort of a chicken/egg thing, but there's a lot further they let fans go.

This was not that out of the ordinary for a lucha libe show. You're not going to see wrestlers getting into fights every show, but once every couple months there's a high profile bit like this one. Everyone was so unconcerned with it here that they finished the match (this was fall 2 of 3), then all the kids in the crowd ran into the ring after the match to get LA Park's autograph.

A fight with a fan usually leads to a local suspension - CMLL's Texano Jr. and el Terrible were banned from wrestling in Guadalajara for three months earlier this year for getting into a fight with a fan - but Park seems to have skated without one this time.

He was justified! The fan was clearly trying to take his mask.

When we were at a AAA house show in Oaxaca, the main event six-man tag ended early when more than one steel chair was thrown at the heels by someone in the audience.

And at both the AAA and CMLL shows we attended, the "priority seating" arrangements entirely fell apart about halfway through both events, with people pretty much going wherever they wanted in the arena. We never felt like we were in danger, but it didn't feel like the most controlled environment, to say the least.

Is he still going by L.A. Park? I thought the entire "La Parka/L.A. Park" lawsuit whatever was long dead and gone and he could go back to his original name.

La Parka in the WWE would have rocked.

I believe they actually had a gimmick unification match, and L.A. Park (the original) won the rights to La Parka. (At least it makes more sense than Booker T losing the rights to his last initial...)

He won, then he didn't, then he did, then he didn't, then he said he was happy being LA Park after all. I've written like 1000 words on it in the last four days and hate it so much now.

Just the other day I was thinking that La Parka is probably in the top five WCW guys who never wrestled for WWE. There are surprisingly few people who mattered who haven't -- Ultimo Dragon and the Mexicools showing up mid-decade took care of the best ones who hadn't.

1. Sting
2. Konnan
3. Bobby Eaton
4. La Parka
5. Kevin Sullivan? Vampiro? Disco Inferno?

I didn't count Muta or Liger since they were New Japan guest stars, although I guess Muta was exclusive for them for like a year. And I didn't count Koloff because even with his couple stints for Turner-owned WCW, he did all his real stuff before that.

Not that I have a decent replacement if you take him out. Chris Adams? Alex Wright? Stevie Ray?

A LOT of the "light heavyweights"/future X Division types did a lot of one-offs (and up!) jobbing on Jakked, Velocity and Heat. Hell, I saw Horace Hogan of all people, under a mask as The Predator when I attended a TV taping back in 1992. (Not that Horace needs to be anywhere NEAR your list)

I think some of these people might have been under WWF developmental contract after the purchase of the WCW and/or may have done a one-off deal like CRZ said. Kid Romeo is discounted because I know for a fact he was on a Jakked. I guess Mikey Whipwreck is disqualified for accompanying Tajiri to the ring at the first One Night Stand? Norman Smiley is an FCW trainer, but, come on. Mongo was at WM XI but again, come on.

Did Bobby Walker get earn via hard work a WWE appearance at some point, or would he just rank at #55, below The Massive Swoll and 4x4? (Racist!) Walker's work ethic and positive attitude is exactly the kind of thing those NXT punks need to emulate.

I'm not closing the books on Sullivan or Vampiro yet, one or both of them could easily be behind the Undertaker's vegetative state. And if so, that would open the door for Torborg to debut in WWE so he could tell Vampiro "Here! Now! This time!" this August as an 11 year tribute to that angle/three year memorial to the late Brian Adams.

Apologies to Vampiro's friends and family if he has since passed away from complications from the burns he suffered when that guy from space breathed solar fire on him in Wrestling Society X.

Vampiro is still alive, though he's been kidnapped and/or chased by drug gangs countless times. Or at least he keeps telling people this.

Damian got a WWE tryout three or four years ago when they were going thru Mexico. They had him work with Antifaz del Norte. It was odd.

Kwee Wee is on the MTV2 Lucha Libre show starting next month. That is totally odd, though has nothing to do with this.

I thought Jason Jett worked Velocity or Jakked at one point, but wikipedia says he was only in developmental.

Hector Garza was part of the AAA/WWF bit.

It is somewhat surprising that Adams never got picked up at some point in the mid/late 80's when he was still somewhat hot off the Von Erich feud.
Why is Ralphus not mentioned. He was in the WCW hardcore division late in his career and Vince never realized how vital he could have been to turning his company around in the stagnant years after the failure of the InVasion.

So, I was looking at the list and for some reason, Chase Tatum stuck out at me, so I Wikied him and he's dead! I don't remember hearing about this.

I can't believe it has finally happened, but the WWE has hurt my feelings. When the first diva search was announced I rolled my eyes and knew "boys would be boys" and after all, I wasn't the intended demographic.
